there are no true barriers to entry in webcomics. this makes a lot of people uncomfortable and turns them into bucket crabs. Q: if anyone can do it, how can it be prestigious or respectable? A: love of the game is worth something

the value of webcomics is that it offers equal opportunity to the singular vision and execution of any person in the world and that the vision/execution is blissfully created outside of editorial standards without the need to capitulate to please markets or chase trends

Idk how to react to people who talk a lot about views/likes/reposts etc. Yes, I understand the basic human desire for acknowledgement of one's work. But there's no guarantee of that. I posted work for over 10 years to little or no fanfare, and expect none even now. It's the healthier way to live!

patreon's mismanagement is an utterly pathetic avoidable outcome, since they could have just focused entirely on being a middleman for the exchange of dollars between people, but instead they keep trying to find insane shit to waste money on. like trying to become tiktok or a new social media.
