Went to see Styx in concert tonight, - birthday present for the wife. They certainly play well and sing extremely well for their age. Not much of a show but damn, they sound good. Come sail away had EVERYONE on their feet. Very much recommended. Now on to Chicago, on the double bill.

I think that Dolly Parton was, for a lot of people, an ambassador of the "good" values people think of about the South: kindness, hospitality, can-do spirit, sharp and witty and down to earth. I think for a segment of people, too, she was theantithesis of a lot of noxious masculine country stuff.

apparently it's now the fashion to yell that ai is completely useless. okay. i've been with my wife in icu for a week now. every morning i take pictures of her vitals monitors and upload them to ai, so it can give me a translation and progress from the last reading.

@freya.bsky.social just posted a really interesting set of questions about social media, which effectively boil down to "is social media of net benefit or detriment to society"? And that's a really interesting question. And I have lots of thoughts on it.

The thing about all these analysis of RFk Jnr statements and refutes of what he said is beside the point. The reality is that he’s insane and spouts complete bollocks at every opportunity which means NOTHING said has any validity. There’s no point in dealing with specific lies when it’s ALL crap.

Man, I love my older sister. Half a bottle of wine to finish, a cigar and I just want to talk to my older sister back home. It’s weird how much love I have for family at this point in life, given we didn’t have this relationship growing up. Still, grateful for it now.
