I do not think it is a coincidence that the moment when women of color are in positions of “power” in academia is the same moment where the basic privileges of being in academia are being destroyed.

Friends, I am better than OK. — Jessica Nydia Pabón, PhD
Resignation, for me, has been a journey marked by various emotional states (fear, freedom, alignment, regulation, joy) and this blog post is my attempt to think critically about them.

In a time when books + scholars are under attack, it feels vital to uplift radical literature. I am honored that my words have been included in several anthologies over the years. Now my work is featured in Porque Estamos Aquí by @justjessp.bsky.social . Join us in Boston on 12/15!
A Groundbreaking Collection As much as I hate the way we are all tracked online...I love a Google Alert. Yesterday I received this one: It's hard to explain how seen I feel in this feature of our anthology. It never occurred to me that folks would remember my Feminists for Puerto Rico (FPR)…
A Groundbreaking Collection
As much as I hate the way we are all tracked online...I love a Google Alert. Yesterday I received this one: It's hard to explain how seen I feel in this feature of our anthology. It never occurred to me that folks would remember my Feminists for Puerto Rico (FPR) efforts and tie them to the anthology and that all of this work would come to fruition in this political moment when Borikén is being remilitarized and occupied by US empire and feminists more broadly are paying attention to and resisting that imperialism largely in response to the ongoing genocide in Palestine.

I am so honored to announce that I've been elected President of the National Women's Studies Association. My term begins at the end of our November conference in Puerto Rico. I think I'll be the first Puerto Rican President, and I'll assume that role in Puerto Rico. This fact makes my heart sing.
I just keep thinking (a la Douglass): What, to the professor of race, gender, sexuality, disability, is academic freedom? www.insidehighered.com/news/faculty...
Conservative Org. Requests Materials for 70 Chapel Hill Courses
The Oversight Project, founded by the Heritage Foundation, is using an open records request to search for terms like “DEI” and “gender identity.” Faculty say it encroaches on academic freedom.

you should probably go ahead and pre-order our anthology before it is banned for anti-a m e r i kkk a n sentiment. also, you can't beat $23.20 for a 375 page anthology. bookshop.org/p/books/porq...

The term “resilience” originated in ecology. But its shift from the natural to the social has normalized human-made structures of inequality.

Find me a diasporican who visited homeland and *didn’t* record the coqui’s song on their phone to listen to as needed. I’ll wait.
Thrilled to share that the anthology we all need is now available for pre-order. It's been a dream of mine to publish with The Feminist Press, and HERE WE ARE. #wepa! #feminism #PuertoRican #liberation #decolonial

I miss Bitch Magazine. still. always. forever.
Did you know that @theenwsa.bsky.social will be in #PuertoRico this year? And did you know that there is a Puerto Rican feminisms pre-conference? And did you know that it is being organized by the Puerto Rican Feminisms Interest Group? Now you know! www.nwsa.org/annual-confe...

they definitely killed Giuffre. cause that's what happens to too many survivors who claim their voice. i hate it here.
I demand that Alvarez Diaz and Villalon drop out of the Esencia project immediately! This private city will only further destroy Puerto Rican land and displace more of our people. We deserve a Puerto Rico for Puerto Ricans! #NoAEsencia @advfirm
not to make light of things but I'd love to opt out of this Handmaid's Tale/Hunger Games/Parable of the Sower mashup

Serious question: so you’ve packed your go bag, WHERE are you going? If the go bag is suddenly needed, will airports be working? Will trains be running? Will highways be open?
