Arm the homeless

This is what I've been saying for years, decades even. The ones who insisted upon voting third party rather than going through the work of actually getting involved in the party locally and taking it over infuriated me. Meantime, the Tea Party and MAGA types successfully did just that with the GOP.

Rahm Emanuel may be representative. But that’s not the problem. The problem is that there’s a lot of Rahm Emanuels & they control the Democratic Party.Since the 3rd Party option is a nonstarter in the US we have no choice: take over the Democratic Party & evict the Establishment. Storm the barricades

We've all listened to true crime podcasts and/or read books in the genre, and yet people who stage murders to look like interrupted robberies are STILL NEGLECTING TO TAKE WHATEVER CASH AND JEWELRY ARE LYING AROUND. If you want it to look like a robbery, then it has to BE an actual robbery!

I'm reading my great-grandfather's memoirs (he died a couple of years before I was born), and what's surprising is just how warmly I, a progressive Californian living in the 21st century, feel towards this deeply religious Texas country doctor of the early-mid 20th century. He's just likeable.

A book cover for One Hundred Dollars & A Horse: The Reminiscences of a Country Doctor by J. Gordon Bryson. A medical bag with a stethescope hanging out of it features in the middle.

I can only dream of what it would be like to get under this administration's skin enough for Steve Cheung to pick up his phone and furiously type a post on social media calling me a cuck loser

Just checked my last three months of Amazon purchases and everything was either for the house, for my spouse, or for something lost, broken, or worn out (e.g., headphones, slippers) My spouse checked theirs: the same We have reached the boring and practical era of our lives, and it's a blast.

One of my earliest takes on Musk after getting to know more about his beliefs and stated goals was that he was one of those guys I knew who read a *lot* of Heinlein in high school and college, and missed the point entirely.

Tech billionaires like to claim their work is inspired by science fiction, but in truth, they are using its ‘chrome-plated aesthetic’ as a fig leaf to further what the social theorist Ali Rıza Taşkale labels ‘reactionary futurism’

Confession: I started getting into art films back when I lived with my parents who didn't have premium channels, and finding a deeply symbolic European film playing on basic cable late at night meant a decent chance of catching some nudity. That was my introduction to arthouse cinema.

today's youth will never have the experience of scrolling the 40 or so channels you had at 1 AM on a friday night looking for something interesting or horny and catching the back half of eXistenZ without having any idea what it was

Most couples I've seen on bodycam videos being questioned, one of them will be utterly hostile to the point of resisting arrest and assaulting the officers, and the other one will be attempting to calm them down. If you're in a relationship, you know which one you are.

Cop uniforms that include cowboy hats are hilarious, and I should probably avoid Texas because I would not be able to take them seriously during any interaction

The National Hot Dog Council says that no one over the age of 12 should put ketchup on a hot dog, Fuck the National Hot Dog Council. Remember, kids: It's YOUR hot dog. You can put whatever you want on it from chocolate sauce to caviar. Ignore the gatekeepers and follow your personal tastes.
