Vela seeks solitude, if that doesn't work she has a short fuse of pouting/stewing to yelling. If it's too much it's too much ! Nori tenses up and seeks solace in her spiritual beliefs. Belle stays outwardly calm for a long time. Once she shows her rage things break.

#CartAugust Main navigable ways in the galaxy are the hyperlanes. Imaginable as smooth trodden paths through hyperspace. In general ships can fly anywhere within free space, but the less pre-mapped a sector the harder and slower hyperspatial navigation for the most common drive-types goes.

Rivers, lakes, or oceans. What's the most noteworthy stretch of water here? Is it a navigable way or a death wish?

Yea. I have a uni professor called Brynn who is a bit of a scatterbrain, doesn't like teaching that much and has to go onto a surprise science mission. Which elates him at first, but get hit hard by reality soon. I think this transition characterizes him thoroughly. #AugustWorldbuilders

With a bit of a jaunt he headed back to the airlock. Where he gave himself a quick rinse with a pressure hose.
Perfecting that rough outer rim look. That might keep admin off him. Confirming that with glance in the reflective panels he headed to his office.
The terminal was already blinking with 187 new messages. With his coat thrown over the seat he grabbed a coffee from the synth-pad, shoved aside some papers, sat down and hit Delete on the touchscreen. Inbox zero.
Anything super important would come as a call, in-person visit or stalking in VR. Speaking of, it was time for the systematics course. Even now, especially with many planets, there was a need to name everything living properly. Wouldn't want to confuse tasty, yet genespliced, Utopica prime netshroom with the deadly forebearer from some corewards deathworld. Another opportunity to enlighten the few students, and curiously AIs who show up to these. He excavated an adapter-cable from the desks layers and slotted it into the cyberport behind his ear.

#CartAugust My spacemap has various barriers to the known means of FTL travel. Most prominently, and domineering the strategic situation is the Blue Abyss. A galaxy spanning anomaly that is impervious to hyperspace travel, in a different way than the Void the galaxy borders on.

The Alliance schools are roughly 50/50 frontal and group. Earlier teachers are usually organic, later with a shift to AIs using avatars or holos. They try to establish teachers as semi-parent to reign in pupils by internal motivation. (Parental abondenis a growing issue) 🧵 #AugustWorldbuilders

They wouldn't be the same. Some territories shifted. Some solidified, like Mononobe Megacorp. The Alliance reaching closer to the Void, which carries its own dangers with hyperspace travel growing more and more difficult near the edge. With the 'edge' being rather diffuse. #CartAugust

Yes. Past elementary school most pupils, who stay in the system, go to highschool. After that things branch off widely. There *are* trades, and the Alliance pushes for this due to the creeping failure of synth-tech in the background. Trades meaning civil engineering, manufacturing, construction (1/3

This was my first attack! I hope I will manage to draw next year! I was pretty busy with painting my office and I was also pretty exhausted from the heatwave🥲 next year I will be better prepared with my OC! I take it as goal to create characters sheet until next year😚 #Artfight #Artfight2026

MY FIRST #ARTFIGHT ATTACK YALL!!! And the attack goes out to LunariaArts😀 it shows her character Yui who is a #succubus! It was definitely a lot of fun to draw her, even when I was very slow because I busy renovating my workspace and there is chaos everywhere🥲 #art #demon #firstattack #artofbluesky

An finished digital illustration shows the succubus Yui! She is standing in front of a very bright red background. White particles are flowing around her! She has blond hair, red spiky horns and a long black tail that ends with a heart shaped tip! She is holding a rod. Something that means to be a weapon. Yui is wearing a black, shiny latex dress with black, long gloves and long stockings! The latex has a lot of shiny effects!

Vela shrugs it off. Maybe it'll take root somewhere and she will reflect and actually do something. Like with the whole awareness/streetsmartness thing. It just takes a long while. And even then the solution might not look like anyone expected. 🫠

In Alliance mandatory schooling it's the basics, of course. But due to the post-scarcity nature and vast AI/cyber influence it's even slower pace than we would think. The best 50 % of a year can write by the end of grade 5. There is big emphasis on natural sciences and very little on history. 1/2

My name is Rebecca Reyes and I draw all of the maps for my Sigils books, including this massive 'world' map. World is in quotes because humans have not actually explored their whole starter continent. This surface realm is called (mostly by humans) the Overworld — where living things mostly reside.

The full, inky, black and white map for the Sigils books by Rebecca E. Reyes.

It shows dozens of cities and landmarks in the Omeran Empire's five territories: Northern Omera, Southern Omera, Province of Alderia, the Kingdom of Delamar, and the Terralia Islands.

Navikula has an unnatural fog of war. Omerans don't know what's over there anymore. Only what's just beyond the wall and on the southern shore.

Way south is the Singing Woods, hiding Syneth, with lakes on the canopies where the southern border ends. Otherwise, the west is blocked off by mountains and the ocean seems endless, hence why it's called the Endless Ink.

Beasts drawn on the map are a kraken in the water, a dragon among the basalt and volcanoes, a harpy automaton at the Navikulan Border Wall, unicorns in the Singing Woods, a calygreyhound in the Valley of the beasts, and a gloom spider in Navikula's void.

There’s a big turtle with a jungle on her back in the corner.

Theres the very obvious Void at the edge of the map. Neither our contemporay sensors not the ones in my setting can detect much in there. But there is something. Common hyperdrives stop being efficient too far from the edge. So flying in and looking is off the table. #CartAugust

In the Alliance everyone is entitled to education. Elementary school up to grade 9 is mandatory. After that you can go through uni qualification, study, join some org or do whatever. As a mostly post-scarcity AI caretaker civ they use the education system extensively to mold future citizens.

Conducting a one hour assessment for a measly paid 2-year contract because ofc they want the best of the best. Then cry about how you never find anyone and repost the job for the next two years. How to employ !

I downloaded these tables of cloud formations and how most of the meteorological formations on the maps are called, so I can quick reference them. Because Vela would never mislabel something like that. Fortunately Brynn and Yrhal are (bio) imaging experts, so I don't have to lookup much. 😅
