I hadn’t even considered this, and I generally consider myself a fairly conscientious person. I have to go watch this movie.
i have decided to go permanently insane over commentators STILL acting like Elizabeth Holmes's public sin was defrauding investors, rather than knowingly and intentionally subjecting unsuspecting patients to inaccurate blood-test results that could have fucking KILLED THEM
FYI I predicted at least a supermajority. 1/4 is even worse. Shove it up your ass losers. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
Albertans vote to remain in Canada, CBC News projects | CBC News
It’s the question that has consumed months of political discourse in Alberta — whether residents want to remain in Canada, or whether they want to hold a second referendum to leave. Albertans have the...

I love to see shit like this because a lot of my urbanist circles are riddled with well intentioned Libs (some of whom I love very much) who earnestly believe the police keep them safe. If it ain’t your protest, it’ll be your pickets. The police will always be ready to bust your skulls too libs.
shame
I shit you not when I said “no we are not all equally responsible for everyone’s safety” on Reddit rn I was told a car could flee the scene of a collision at high speed after running over a cyclist and strike another car, and as such cyclists do have some responsibility for drivers safety after all.
I am not sure I understand this correctly; can someone please verify that CAQ had a majority government yesterday and didn’t win a single seat today? Has that ever happened before?
One conclusion ive come to after watching several successful sitcoms is that almost all of us crave comradery.
One thing that has been interesting for me realizing after getting involved in Safer Streets advocacy is the number of people who’s opinion fundamentally amounts to “as long as nobody ever makes a mistake anywhere; we’ll have a totally safe system.” Yet don’t realize it.
“Get up. It’s time for us to leave for the Teddy Bear Picnic.” “Will there be games there?” “ youtu.be/6jJkdRaa04g?... ” “…..” “…..” “This song is so weird”
“No! We’re not going out! We’ve spent too much money eating out this week.” “It’s fine we don’t need to go out you can order McDonald’s and have it delivered like you did pizza last night. My friends at school told me.”

Did you know the rules don’t actually mean anything? For example, I’ve always said that if you have a protected monopoly that is run for profit you couldn’t possibly be an essential service - because that would be an ethical contradiction.
I know cars are weird and people get weird about how expensive they are and like to pretend they’re really not; but can we talk about how fucking unhinged it is to wait in line for 45 minutes to save 5¢ per litre? You do realize you’re getting like $3 off if you spend $100, right?
I am completely convinced that the problem is cultural and nothing else. It’s entitlement and privilege. If society is constantly sending subconscious signals that drivers are at the top, of course people are going to start to believe it.
I think folks who ride for transit or on busy roads know this on a deep level. Every complaint about helmets or rolling stop signs or riding two abreast or empty bike lanes or entitled riders is pure misdirection. The core issue: They don't want riders on the road. The entitlement claim is batshit.
It’s like some sort of chimeric final boss made up of things that I hate about electoral politics.

Me: Can you stop saying ‘safety is a two way street please.’ It’s not Then: But if you think about it, it kinda is, if I hit and killed you - I’d feel bad and me bad feels is equivalent to you dead. We must work together for safety.
People tell me they like suits but don't have occasions to wear one. You can wear a suit to court, funerals, and religious services. Doesn't have to be your trial, friend's burial, or religion you believe in. Go to random trials, attend a stranger's burial, join multiple religions. Try it sometime.
A northbound cyclist getting hit by a westbound driver likely entered the intersection well before the driver was nearby, even more so if the driver is traveling at a higher rate of speed than the limit.

Why the fuck do they keep saying “taxpayers”. You can say residents, citizens, or even people. The only reason anyone would draw lines around “taxpayers” as the people they speak for is if they think children shouldn’t be represented.
“If we get rid of this parking here, we can put the bike lane in no problem!” “YOU CANT GET RID OF THE PARKING!” “It’s fine. You can just park on the other side of the street.” “And walk across the street? What are you nuts? PEOPLE WILL DIE!”

I’m at the point in my life where the first thing I wonder about when something challenges my beliefs is “how is this helping Mossad?”
“How can you say that?!? It’s such a bad faith representation of what I believe! I would never deliberately hurt children!” “So now you do think we should lower the speed cars go through our cities?”
