My name is John (Ioannis), an experienced software engineer from Greece 🌞🌊 , trying out my luck in Game Development. I promise I'm not that shy- just under multiple NDAs :D

Crosshair Pack has been updated! 🎯 It now includes separate SVG (vector) files for each of the 200 crosshairs in a light and dark color scheme. Also adds a new glow effect, and the missing outline tilesheet! kenney.nl/assets/cross...

A friend wanted to go see The Odyssey, so I joined them. "As Nolan intended" is not a thing here. - IMAX is a 2,5 hours drive from where I live - Local cinema had a blown front woofer I reckon - The "fix" for the issue was setting the rest of the speakers to 150%. Movie was a good 6/10 for me.

I had multiple notifications for high sound levels while watching The Odyssey, with horrible audio at a local cinema.

Missing around ~30 books that are not relevant but this is how my total looks like if I buy all the audiobooks I've listened to related to Game Design/Development/Games. I really want to do this though. Perhaps step by step and a re-read!?

New post is live: Is Networking...Making Friends? Lotsa folks often seen networking events as a way to hopefully make new friendships. But that's not the case for everyone, some rather keep it business-only. So here's to different perspectives and hopefully we get to understand each other better!

Is Networking…Making Friends?? — Hi! I'm Neha

It’s been a humid summer and it got me thinking about friends/communities and how the games industry gifted me with some of the most amazing friends in my life. It just so happened that I met most of ...

There's a lot of things I like and don't like in corporate environments, but the one thing I can't stand is turning on the laptop *to do work* and having it be unresponsive because... updates / virus scans / whatever IT decided it should run. Also, windows laptops are the worst I'm sorry to say.

Know that feeling of curling up with a good book and shutting out everything else?! Well...that’s what *this* beauty does to me. I just want to switch everything off and just go through this... gamehistory.org/e3-history/ Amazing work.

Me, booking meetings for Gamescom: Learning more about the company, the people, if they are a good fit, messaging them about what I'd like to discuss and being as kind as I can be, because peopl's time is *very important*. Invites I get be like:

Censored image of a message I got which was most likely automatically generated as the person is hoping for use to meet at GDC and not Gamescom.

...so that's "A Playful Production Process" by @rich-lem.bsky.social. One of the best books on game development I've read! It really feels like invaluable knowledge, and the timing was perfect too- trying to properly plan our production and test whether it actually works before pitching our game!

As a #gamedev I need to “touch grass” a bit so I’m going to the beach to relax and cool down… My relaxation:

Holding a tablet at the beach reading about creating a vertical slice (game development)

After rewatching .hack, I had to start SAO again. At some point while watching I wondered if there is a game that follows the original story of the anime in Aincrad… There is. It came out yesterday. LOL. Mixed reviews though :( store.steampowered.com/app/2244210/...

100% there with @dark1x.bsky.social One thing I’d add: GIFTING. It’s very hard to gift a game online and even when you do, it doesn’t really feel like giving a someone an actual thing. I don’t think I’d be the gamer I am today if an uncle hadn’t gifted me a physical copy of FF8 when I was 9.

With just three paragraphs in a blog post, Sony signals the end of physical media for PlayStation. It's the lead story in the latest DF Direct Weekly: youtu.be/vcpjiMcAyoU

It’s hard for people to understand I believe. Before focusing on learning more about game design I also thought I understood what it meant just by what I saw. Boy was I wrong. The more I learn the more I understand that for years to come if not always- games worth playing will be human made.

RV There Yet was made in less than two months as basically a gamejam game with whatever the studio had lying around, and it sold like a billion copies Meanwhile AI boiling oceans can make... bland web games that have no gameplay?

after the latest game industry news I have a bold new gaming platform idea: Instead of everyone buying expensive hardware, we build shared local game terminals in social spaces! A physical place full of game machines!!! WE'LL CALL IT " THE ARCADE " 🙃

In case people forgot, Nintendo sold limited DIGITAL copies of their own game to boost sales. If this is going to be the future, we need to do something about it. I can’t describe how wild limiting “copies” of a digital game is. mario.nintendo.com/news/super-m...
