Who can train to teach RE? 🤔 More people than you think! You don't need to be religious or have a Theology degree. Providers want curious minds from a range of backgrounds. Requirements: An undergraduate degree (usually 2:2+), GCSE Grade 4/C in English & Maths #getintoteaching

Libby Ahluwalia shared some absolute gold dust for preparing pupils for A-level RS-related degrees. So generous, clear and memorable, with careful consideration of those who do not have the advantages in life. My top quote: ‘remember, it’s an application, not a fridge magnet’. #TeamRE #NATRE

On this morning’s BBC R4 Sunday Programme, a DfE spokesperson said that RE trainee numbers are up — true, due to the bursary they’ve now scrapped! The rise proves incentives work. Removing them will undo the recovery. #TeamRE

I’ve spent today celebrating the recommendation for RE to join the NC, as I know how hard key people have worked behind the scenes to make it happen. Now I’m realising the benefit for young people & their ability to navigate the complexities & beauty of life in modern Britain. #TeamRE
