Because phase-out policy for petrol and diesel cars is such an important topic in Germany at the moment, we decided to translate our new phase-out policy brief into German! 🇩🇪 You can find it here: 👉 www.sussex.ac.uk/webteam/gate...
With our new @empoci.bsky.social policy brief we hope to contribute to a more informed debate on the future of the European automotive industry. In short: maintain the phase-out policies to ensure innovation and international competitiveness. For details, read on: www.sussex.ac.uk/webteam/gate...
Thanks for the great compilation. Our new @empoci.bsky.social policy brief shares insights into how such phase-out targets influence corporate decision making in the automotive industry: it shows how these targets actually help in the global innovation race: www.sussex.ac.uk/webteam/gate...

Carmakers don’t seem to mean what they say. One minute they can comply with the EU’s car CO2 targets. The next, they are demanding the targets be scrapped. They are playing a double game to weaken climate rules: complain then comply. Explore the timeline ➡️ https://bit.ly/3X8ReTP
Consistent phase-out policies actually help European carmakers, according to our new policy brief! 📚 It argues that while the transition to electric vehicles is disruptive, it is also inevitable. In the long run, delays will only hurt the European automotive industry. 📖👉 tinyurl.com/59wmfrpu

Advancing net-zero transitions requires addressing multiple challenges and navigating the "dual politics" of acceleration: political conflict on the DECLINE of old industries and the EXPANSION of the new system. Despite many negative headlines, the global EV sales grew by around a third last year. The IEA expects electric sales to increase by more than a fifth in 2024. In Europe, T&E expects EV sales to resume growth - as carmakers race to meet EU CO2 targets next year - reaching 24% market share in 2025.
What are the most frequented flight routes in Europe? A whopping 43 flights between London and Amsterdam departed every day last year, making it the second-busiest route in Europe despite a direct 4-hour train alternative. It’s time to rethink how we travel in Europe.
