New STI data! Encouraging reductions in gonorrhea, chlamydia & syphilis. But, huge disparities in outcomes between different groups & increased syphilis among women. Increases in infectious syphilis & antibiotic resistant STIs also recorded. Greater complexity needs its own response. #STIs

@kat-smithson.bsky.social will attend the @commonswec.parliament.uk today to discuss the urgent need for a national sexual health strategy. With STI rates rising between 2023 and 2024, sexual health services are crucial in providing accessible, welcoming and responsive care.

BASHH CEO Kat Smithson will be attending the women and equalities select committee oral evidence session. Tune in from 14:30 today on parliamentliv.tv to follow the discussions. The government must urgently deliver and implement a comprehensive national strategy for sexual health.
