On Mercy Otis Warren, @kathleenduval.bsky.social is so good on how even powerful & privileged women fade into obscurity. My fav is @jcblibrary.bsky.social copy of MOW's 1775 scathingly satirical play The Group abt sycopahntic politicians annotated with all characters ID-ed. Beau Trumps, anyone?

Dramatis Persona on 18th c page with manuscript identifying each for ex Lord Chief Justice Hazelrod is noted as Judge Oliver.A statue of Mercy Warren is at the Barnstable County Courthouse, holding aloft a book! It was erected in 1991 and there is an annual Cape Cod woman of the year award named for her.

“The average American eats 20 pounds of seafood each year—about three-fourths of which is imported. New tariffs will increase prices for and reduce consumption…. That could pit Americans' heart health against their wallets.” Op-ed today by Marty Smith www.thinkglobalhealth.org/article/hidd...

Let's use #MarchMadness to reflect on why our society needs robust colleges and universities. We won't have colleges and universities if the Musk/Trump Admin eliminates grants for essential research, destroys the financial aid system, and censors free thought and expression on campuses.

You've got 64 teams, the vast majority of which are public, community-serving, primarily non-elite students. Every single one of them is at risk. If you love college sports, you've got to defend our colleges and universities! Some of these schools may not exist to play in next year's tourney.
