My speculative feminist micro! Written in Kathy Fish’s flash extravaganza the ekphrastic prompt! @kathyfish.bsky.social
'Detergentized' micro fiction from @angelajoynes.bsky.social I am the crone among us, old enough to remember the PRE world order before the male revolt abolished abortion rights and birth control, before rescinding our voting rights... Read more: www.ellipsis-zine.com/writing/dete...

"So, we didn’t question or complain when some of our neighbours began to disappear, as we looked up from our phones." Great one by @b-hamblin.bsky.social
Thanks to Hugh @turnandwork.com and the wonderful @kathyfish.bsky.social for bringing this story to the world www.turnandwork.com/guest-post/d...
Someone get me in a room with MacKenzie Scott’s folks and I’ll deliver my impassioned / well-constructed argument that it’s a moral imperative that she give $20 million to a new distributor specifically for nonprofit and small presses in order to offset her ex’s dismantling of the book industry.
Many thanks to editor Josh Russell for accepting my experimental, hybrid flash for the incredible new issue of Georgia State University's Five Points journal. To see my my piece facing the inimitable Stuart Dybek's story is just extra cool. Congratulations to all! I'm excited to read your work.
Arrived home yesterday from the Flash Fiction Festival, my 8th in a row, at Trinity College in Bristol, UK. Love the pure joy on the faces in this photo (credit David Swann). I’m waaaay in the back with my arms raised. If you write flash, I highly recommend this annual weekend gathering! ❤️
"In order to get back to my kitchen, I must climb out one of the tall windows, down a rope ladder and into the neighbors’ living room" Wow - this is (as always!) quite a piece from @kathyfish.bsky.social - so brilliantly unsettling and atmospheric!
“We pass through each other in the rooms and on the staircases. […] I discover a room filled with beds and ornate furniture, scattered and illogical.” The amazing Kathy Fish (@kathyfish.bsky.social) returns to The Bulb Region with a kaleidoscopic, mazelike experience. 🔗 ↓

The handwritten issue of Keyhole (2008) was especially cool...
Organizing bookshelves (again, ha). Print places I've published in print. There are some oldies here! Night Train, Keyhole, Cranky, Sleepingfish, Staccato, Wild Strawberries, Quick Fiction. I see familiar names in those T of Cs. Great litmags. I miss them. 💙
'Tall, tall windows with mote-filled light and billowing curtains quietly entering like polite guests'❤️❤️❤️
I have a new piece up at @bulbregion.bsky.social Many thanks to @sarpsozdinler.bsky.social for having me back! I'd love for you to read, "Dimensions." 💙 bulbregion.com/Dimensions-b...
I pretty much bullshitted (bullshat?) my way through high school, but this is next level. Respect! 💪
I once gave a book report presentation in high school on a book I’d invented rather than read any of the books my teacher had to offer. It was both more and less work, and I had so much fun.
A friend just reminded me that I’ll be teaching my three-hour workshop in England at the Flash Fiction Festival ONE WEEK FROM TODAY! I can’t wait to see everyone again! ❤️
Oh, gosh, love this new one by @anniejowrites.bsky.social 💙
delighted to be back in Rejection Letters with my new story “The Funerals” — so grateful to @kevinmkearney.bsky.social for his thoughtful edits, D.T., & any of you who read it in @rejectionlit.bsky.social 🪦 ♡ rejection-letters.com/2026/07/07/t...
Love this new short story by @ruthjoffre.bsky.social Wow.
check out my new story! it's about a young woman whose grandmother feeds her ancestral memories that have been passed down in her family generations (and all the truths that come bubbling to the surface in the process)

This is such a cool thing that @mattkendrick.bsky.social does. Congratulations to all the longlisters! 🌟
DRUM ROLL!!!! Announcing the longlists for the Welkin Genre Prize 2026. Congratulations to the writers of these 50 wonderful pieces. Please feel free to celebrate wildly but don't reveal which piece is yours as judging is still ongoing! www.mattkendrick.co.uk/welkin-press...
If they're actually keeping brain dead Mitch McConnell hooked up to machines for political advantage, it's the most ghoulish thing I've seen from them yet. And that's saying a lot.
If "Platner campaign strategist whose voice gets progressively, insanely high pitched and strangled as he talks about vetting the candidate" was a bit it, it would be insanely funny. But we don't need to invent it.
Am I a bad person for following @ismcconnelldeadyet.bsky.social ?
Congratulations, @kimbundy.bsky.social ! 🌟
Thank you Bright Flash @brightflash1500.bsky.social for including "Snap" in this batch of beautiful stories! Born in a @kathyfish.bsky.social writing retreat several years ago - happy it found such a good home 💚 brightflash1000.com/page/2/
Mine is the time a notable American short story writer found my story so godawful he was practically spitting as he delivered his critique of it. It was definitely a flawed draft, but I was baffled by his over-the-top reaction to it. He was pretty genial with everyone else! 😅
If you see this, please tell me the worst/most baffling bit of creative feedback you've ever recieved. Mine is still the time somebody told me my aliens had names that were too alien. Not that they were unpronounceable, just that they didn't sound enough like human names.
Matt Kendrick's got a great new craft piece up on Substack! 🌼
