“They’re all gonna laugh at you!” (My first attempt at beading for CARRIE’s pigs blood)
And Holly Golightly with Cat at the end of BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY’s
Many years ago, a student literally passed out during the eyeball scene in UN CHIEN ANDALOU. (I swear, I did prepare them for it!)
My wife and I were at the @amcinematheque.bsky.social screening of 2001: A Space Odyssey at The Egyptian where they had to stop the film after the stargate sequence because a dude was freaking out on some substance. They had to restart the last reel after they ejected the guy.
I’m visiting my mom and embarking on an embroidery project that is too ambitious for my skills: outfits for 100 ladies. I’ve done a few that are just fun experiments, like my curly girly:
Celebrating a decade with Max with a Max-sized croissant! (He got edible treats, too)
Ten years with this beautiful boy. How lucky we were to find each other! He’s been the sweetest, weirdest, grumpiest little old man for the past decade. We love him more than I can say. Grateful to Humane Society of Utah for my perfect pup.
Buster Keaton didn't stand still while a two-ton housefront collapsed on top of him with a window cut out to barely clear his shoulders on each side so you could tell me that AI is "inevitable."
Sam Raimi didn't strap a Super 8 camera to a 2x4 so you could tell me that AI is "inevitable."

FB Marketplace in Los Angeles is truly something else.
I was very excited to enjoy my new comfy cushions on the patio furniture. Maxwell got there first. Guess it’s his seat now.
Celebrating with pizza and beer: the David Bowie stout, a beer that appears to be made for me specifically.
Honestly, talking about my book here has been so much fun, and a kind of microcosm of online Velvet Goldmine fandom. Lots of people passionately excited about the same film/music I love!
I am once again reminded that talking about my books does actually work (at least here on Bluesky) since once again people have been responding to my recent posts like "just bought it!" so everyone who buys a book or adds it to a TBR from an author's Bluesky post, be sure to tell us!
Lots of big news this week: I was granted promotion to full professor! It’s been a joy to teach here at CSUF for the past nine years, and I’m looking forward to many more. I’m so grateful to my family, friends, students, and colleagues for the support!
My VELVET GOLDMINE book got a shout out from my uni! Book is available from @bloomsburymedia.bsky.social or your favorite bookstore!

Battle of Versailles but it’s a designer from every state and territory, and Liza Minelli’s still there
Okay but What would YOUR totally gratuitous White House lawn event be, if YOU were the mad king of a dying superpower
Ok, @maxsarchive.bsky.social has outdone himself. He contacted Marianna Gefen, the artist whose work graces my Velvet Goldmine book’s cover, and bought the original artwork. You can see even more detail in the original!
I'm like one paragraph into this and I'm already like "hell yeah brother," this is the VG book the world needs
It's release day for my little book! Thanks for following along with my mixtape this week, and extra special thanks if you picked up a copy of the book for yourself. If you're interested, I'll drop links below to find it on various platforms.
