I wasn't paying the closest attention to the race—I knew who I wanted to win for what I felt were obvious reasons, but I'm not a horse-race person and I'm not in Michigan—then last night as the votes were being counted I saw he was outspent NINE TO ONE????? He should have been dead in the water!

I honestly thought THE SHARDS was fun and really, really funny. decider.com/2026/08/05/t...
‘The Shards’ on FX review: Ryan Murphy’s glossy Bret Easton Ellis show is a hoot of a horror comedy
The darkest, funniest show since Apple TV’s Widow’s Bay.

Anyway, STC and I love The Shards! More to come in the weeks ahead on Decider dot com!
There comes a time a few times a year when @seantcollins.com and I are in total agreement about a show being a hoot, a holler, a great time, and we also then have to remind each other that means no one else will like it.
I'm weirdly upset by Stevens's gracious concession, because it makes her lie from just a few days ago that AES harbors personal animus against Jewish ppl all the more transparent. We should discourage lying to inflame tensions against two targeted religious minorities for personal political gain imo
This was unlikely from a straight funding standpoint. Shri dumped millions in here and had incumbency. Big money still matters but it's never mattered less than this year.
Thanedar becomes latest incumbent to fall to a progressive challenger
@abdulelsayed.bsky.social triumphing over something like $60 million, $32-ish million of it AIPAC money, is not a "narrow" victory, it's a people's earthquake. This kind of spending is oligarchy in action, to smother democracy through its formal channels, and is getting normalized. Still he won.
Even this psychopath who wants to run Texas like a reichsgau has to pretend to not be a huge fan of AI data centers now, another stunning thing to wake up to today

BREAKING: Abdul El-Sayed defeats Haley Stevens, with a final count of 7.3M - 63.9M
Tonight we rewatched The Matrix with our 16yo who had never actually sat and watched it through before. It's really interesting to watch it now that I've seen Speed Racer even more times, so I see things like all the big closeups or the VFX whammy bar they employ on reality in that context now.
BREAKING: With a major dump from the back corner of the bag, purple Skittles have just overtaken yellow ones in the race for "which color has the most Skittles in this bag" with 54.7% of the Skittles reporting, but yellow is looking to make a comeback when I count the ones that fell on the floor

We Should Kill Protesters, by Sen. Tom Cotton Reasonable Point, by Michelle Goldberg You Should Like Me as I Buy and Destroy Everything That Makes Life Worth Living, by His Excellency David Ellison
This is the moment my dad, who tuned into the TWIN PEAKS pilot as a fan of Mark Frost’s work on HILL STREET BLUES and who had never heard of David Lynch, realized he was watching something very special.
If that eyebrowless motherfucker David Ellison wanted to be popular he could have just kept financing seasons of Foundation. (Lee Pace is a revelation.) *I* didn't make him decide to be Julius Streicher! The fact that everyone's not in love with his plan to destroy Hollywood is a DEP, not an STCP
