In my Anne Shakespeare lecture tomorrow at the @newberrylibrary.bsky.social , I have cause to list off all 10 children of Anne's father. I am sorely tempted to do it like Rosemary on #WidowsBay: "dead, dead, bastard, dead, bastard." lnkd.in/gbwzvHG7
The more I age the more I think it's really important for people to try, and KEEP trying: 1. One thing they are very good at. 2. One thing they are average at. 3. One thing they are ACTIVELY BAD AT. I really do think never sticking with a thing you suck at makes your empathy atrophy.
Today is the day I get to reply to submissions for CASEL's blog, which means I get to say, over and over again, yes, we love your idea, go for it. These are the best days. #SEL #education #educators #teachers #socialemotionallearning #socialandemotionallearning casel.org/blog/

A thing I found out today: the "templates" in Canva include ones that are basically entire lesson plans on topics in English. I find this totally wild.
Two people tried to enter a screening of The Odyssey without buying tickets after hiding inside a miniature model of the Trojan Horse. πππ
As best I can tell, more or less: β’ pedal pushers: hit just below the knee or mid-calf β’ clamdiggers: pretty much the same as pedal pushers β’ capris: longer, generally running down to the ankle bone Alas, there aren't government standards and regulations here.

This is Gemma. Sheβs a rescue dog from Texas who will only listen to her human if they speak in a southern accent. 13/10 a true southern belle (TT: shortlegs4u)
Maybe its the heat and the Canadian smoke outside, but I'm drinking a coke and it's amazing.

Hey, #Chicago - the wildfire smoke out there is BAD. The smell of it hit me in the face when I went to take the cats out for outside time in the yard, and then my eyes started watering. Stay inside!

So, a new version of the CASEL website is now live, which I proposed, designed, and wrote. In, you know, six weeks. Still cleaning up little glitches and gilding the lily, but also mighty proud. casel.org
I'm so tired and burnt-out, I just had to double-check if "socially" is really a word.
So busy today, I had to block time on my calendar to stress eat.
While everyone nowadays is looking towards the Strait of Hormuz, I want to add that there was also a creature in the nearby Arabian Sea that might need more attention. This map is from the 1560s, and the creature looks interesting. Zoom in:
This is Lucie. She likes to moo, so you can imagine why this herd of cows mistook her as one of their own. And vice versa. 13/10 for all (TT: luciewoos)
Good morning! It's Thursday in case you've been living in a cave. It's not really that deep. Grab your cup and let's get it!
