Visible skill: writing good dialogue for a comic Invisible skill: writing good dialogue that’s 1) succinct & uses words short enough to fit inside speech bubbles, 2) in few enough bubbles that won’t cover up the art too much, 3) leads the eye thru the art and 4) still makes complete narrative sense

I've been thinking a lot about visible vs invisible skill layers. i.e every craft has outer layers of skills that laypeople can recognise, and inner layers that you need expertise and experience to perceive at all. Could y'all think of examples of visible vs invisible skills in your own discipline?

Love your neighbors and support your community in any way you can. Even things that seem “small” help. Food donations, donations to detainees for lawyers, documenting ice activity, keeping a watchful eye out, calling reps, protesting. It all matters.

If you're a writer, wondering why you should bother writing with the world on fire. It feels like it's not important, I need you to understand that it is. Even if it is just because it keeps you moving forward? Even if it only brings YOU joy, that gives you energy to fight & survive.

Dante is a bounty-hunting vampire trying to afford rent, doing all he can to run away from his old life. But between a budding friendship with a goody-two-shoes knight, the rising threat of monster hunters, and the incessant whispers of Dante’s Sire in his ear, it’s getting harder to stay hidden.
