probably most people are like thinking okay so hwhoo hwhoo and awoooo no sorry that's not what owls and coyotes sound like it's much weirder haha. I'm not even gonna try for an onomatopoeia they both sound like devils laughing
the night noises I have to worry about at home are people shooting at nothing in the quarry, the foghorn, coyotes and owls. in the city it's sirens, drag racing, and car alarms haha

watching a very lovey dovey couple entering the spider tunnel: "just like Romeo and Juliet"
also just to make my point real clear: the things I care about here are things like access to hospitals, psychiatric care, domestic abuse services, rehab, police, lawyers, and CPS that isn't your abuser's brother or sis or dad, access to queer communities, sewage, Internet, heating, transportation
like not to be too aggressive about it but it takes me 30 minutes just to get to cap hill on the train from Roosevelt. if it takes you less than an hour to get to one of the biggest cities in America, you're not rural
the reason I care about this btw is because a lot of people like to play like they're from rural communities when they're really not and it shows because they don't give a single shit about the things rural communities are ACTUALLY dealing with and make no mistake: they are LEADING the conversation

tbh I find that comparing town sizes doesn't mean much tho. the real question, when you're trying to find out whether you can relate, is how close are you to the biggest town nearby--to services, to entertainment, to med evac etc. port Angeles (18k) is 1.5 hrs away driving from where I grew up
it still cracks me up that "small town" twin peaks has 33k more people than "the big city" an hour and a half away on the Olympic peninsula where I grew up (Port Angeles, at 18k). I heard lynch wanted it 5k which makes WAY more sense for what it's supposed to be haha
I think it's interesting that on Pinterest people definitely associate twin peaks (which was largely filmed in California) and x-files (which was filmed in bc but not set there for the most part) with the pnw but the ring (set and filmed here) never comes up haha
sucks that spiders season and smoke season have to coincide. I still prefer it to February, but. it comes at a very high cost
do I know anybody who's gonna be at the Harveys or the Ringos
some neighbor is doing fireworks. first of all it's the middle of the afternoon, what can you possibly be getting out of this. secondly, THANKS FOR THE ADDITIONAL SMOKE BRUH WE'RE ALL SO GRATEFUL

This is actually a place where those of us who have some seniority and no fucks to give can leverage their privilege. If someone posts a job to a list without salary info, I will IMMEDIATELY reply on-list to say “Before I forward this to great candidates who might be interested, what is the salary?
My MLS students would like you to know that if you don't post a salary with your job posting, they aren't likely to apply.

the air quality in Seattle rn is legit this guy who looks so sad I feel it though I feel it
there are two types of fans of things- those who treat it like a hobby and understand it's ok to laugh at things you enjoy and those who use it to replace church or whatever in their lives and are very vigilant against Blasphemy
me being angrier online/as a person is directly correlated with moving into an apartment with such thin walls that I can't sing even at a baby volume and I don't have a car I can do it in and karaoke is expensive
'You'll choke too' - an aerial embroidery landscape inspired by all the wildfires happening right now... I'm upset every time I smell smoke outside and somehow we have people starting them maliciously too! But we all breathe the same air so they'll choke too (1/2 - see thread for close-ups)
I don't really get why people cut their shrubbery into rectangles. seems like that circumvents the point of having plants
I heard a bird I didn't hear before but it won't make the sound again!! I'm dying!!!
this is apropos of nothing but what do y'all get most excited about in the backmatter of a comic? like character stuff? WIPs? extra art? author notes?? I'm just curious!
