No. This isn't an accomplishment. If you haven't taken a sick day in 50 years, you've been some combo of: -incredibly lucky (never incapacitated or hospitalized) -incredibly reckless (jeopardizing your health when you should rest) -incredibly inconsiderate (you've absolutely gotten colleagues sick)

I don’t know who needs to hear something nice today, but I am currently house-sitting for friends who have two dogs and this handsome bird. And whenever I bring him out for some fresh air in the evening, an anonymous neighbor, whom I cannot see, whistles back and forth with him, making him so happy.

This is incredibly heartening news—not least because sickle cell disease is far more common in the Black community. Medical racism is very real. Any advances in treating/curing ailments that are thought of as “a Black thing” are SO hard-won.

These problems did not take hold overnight, they will not be solved overnight. They require generational healing which is within our reach if we choose to prioritize it. There is funding available if we choose to prioritize it. There is a better society to be had if we embrace it.

Libraries have offered AI to our patrons for years! Mostly in the pages of Science Fiction novels (& some movies) as a warning not to create thinking machines that may one day break free and slaughter us all!
