My co-worker had come in one morning and found a dead mouse in his cubicle. We hadn't known about mice in the building before that. He didn't want to deal with it so he sent off a ticket to facilities. Their response was pretty quick. It was only 5 minutes before the IT guy came with a new mouse.

We live in the boonies, wildlife all around. The cat just chased a garden mouse into my office closet right next to my feet. If you need me, I will be writing stuff while sitting on the roof of my car for the next couple years.

I haven't lived in Minneapolis since I was a toddler in the early 70's. I haven't even lived in the U.S. for more than 30 years. But I somehow still have a deep pride for the heart that "my city" is showing. And a rage in my core for the brute squad to go to hell (but that ship has sailed).

I honestly thought moving back to Minneapolis would be a good idea. But now that I'm face to face with the stark reality of what this city is really like, I realize that moving back here wasn't a good idea, it was a great fucking idea.
