Health Update 01/10/26 I really appreciate those that continue to check in I guess I'm in a loop. Ulcer has reappeared on left inner ankle. 🫤 Pain has increased as has mental anxiety. It's a struggle. I'm trying to stay positive but life is really testing me at the moment.

A primeval horror lurks in the woods...what is Thistlebone, and what does it have on the residents of a small village in the English countryside? I've been wanting to read this for ages. Thanks to the new Kendall Reviews tablet, I'm able to embrace the digital horrors. @2000ad.bsky.social

I've had my eye on Something is Killing the Children for a while now. Flicking through the latest Hellraiser: Resurrections I saw an advert that referenced the James Tynion @boom-studios.com Slaughterverse. What's the complete reading order for this and where can I get them from?
If the BBC are going to remove 11 sketches from That Mitchell and Webb Look on iPlayer because ‘the comedy doesn’t work in 2026,’ can they please remove Mrs. Brown’s Boys too because ‘the comedy has never worked'
A polite reminder. I rarely use stars to rate things, but if I do... 5* - Brilliant 4* - Very Good 3* - Good 2* - OK 1* - Poor
Hellraiser: The Road Below was superb. Nightbreed, Quiddity, menstruum, Weaveworld and Harry D'Amour all seamlessy introduced into a Hellraiser story. This is easily the best Boom Hellraiser run so far in my Clive Barker rereadthrough. I need to read more Brandon Seifert
I've now reread the first ten issues of Boom's Hellraiser The story beats are mostly superb, but I dont feel they are given enough time and things feel a little rushed. Major plot points covered in a coiple of panels where more detail was definitely required in my opinion. Still, I'm enjoying it.
I'm incredibly excited about the upcoming Library of the Dead project. Oddly, I don't believe I've seen any comments from Clive Barker's friends/colleagues like Nicholas Vince, Pete Atkins, Simon Bamford (to name a few) Seems a major project to not say anything.
I've reread the first 5 issues of Boom Studios Hellraiser. Intriguing story so far although it feels a little rushed, like panels are missing that add details. The artwork is gorgeous though. It's also incredibly gory with a scene on thd subway that riffs on the Ghost Ship opening. Superb.
Health Update 17/9/26 I really appreciate those that continue to check in Still no real improvement sadly. The lack of mobility is killing my mental health I've added ashwagandha & lions mane to the pill intake. Supposed to help with cortisol amongst other things. At this point, I'll try anything
Clive Barker titles published by Subterranean Press in the Kendall Reviews collection.
The thing a lot of the releases in the Hellraiser franchise miss is the pleasure element. The Cenobites should never really be running about slicing and dicing focusing on just pain. Bring back the Sadomasochists from Beyond the Grave
My early morning PS5 session saw me complete Alien: Isolation. A superb game. It perfectly captures the look and feel of the original movie. Yes, the final sequences are a little on rails but the story payoffs are incredibly satisfying. I can't wait for Alien Isolation 2.
Work is looking very non-existent for the end of the year - if you're able to throw the price of a coffee my way, I'd be more than thankful. buymeacoffee.com/johnnymains

Let me get this straight, Netflix. You are increasing my bill by 11% to 'deliver even more value'
Good to have @joshmalerman.bsky.social latest arrive at Kendall Reviews. The Malerman collection is getting there, slowly but surely.
I've now read all 16 issues of Flinch. When it stuck to appropriate horrors this was excellent but it seemed to dip into misogynistic sexual violence too often for my liking. I could curate a solid 'best of' omnibus edition though that I think would stand up.
I've read upto Flinch Issue 10. There are some excellent stories but what surprises me is how many rapey, misogynistic stories there are. Thematically, this bothers me more than the two stories featuring necrophilia.
I think this'll be my next read. Brain fog, medical shenanigans and generally feeling like death are playing havoc with my reading. 'When you're headed into hell, you need the Devils on your side'
Starting to compile a DC Horror reading list. Have I missed anything that you'd recommend? There's a lot to work through, so that gives me time to work out where, and how, to read the Alien digital graphic novels. 😆
Received a text message from my GP about 22:30 telling me my recent blood tests have anomalous results. 😲 I have to wait till Monday to contact them. Why contact me so late on a Friday?
