I think I might have a parasocial relationship blind spot for pets. Like i know that the PERSON i follow absolutely doesn't know i exist irl, but their dog/cat/lizard/whatever who they post pictures of all the time is DEFINITELY my good buddy and you can't convince me i'm wrong about this.

There is a certain brand of person who truly believes that "just asking questions" is a valid reason for constantly demanding answers to bullshit hypotheticals that are 100% designed to trick people into laughable false dichotomies. Those people can, and should, be bullied out of public discourse.
I feel like maybe it isn't super great for everyone to constantly be worried this is the last game they'll ever make.
Just finished Hemlock and Silver by T. Kingfisher, and it was so lovely! If you grew up on Mercedes Lackey / Tamora Pierce, you'll find a new favorite here. As someone who first encountered her as an artist on Elfwood, meeting her again in a new artform is an unexpected delight. Really great stuff.

I love me an ornately decorated mundane item. Brass candle snuffer with a flower at the end? Tiny sewing scissors shaped like a bird? Iron ward key with a labyrinth for teeth and a scrollwork handle? That's my shit. If my final furniture doesn't all have clawed feet just know I died mad about it.
If you approach me in a public place and ask me what book i'm reading, but then interrupt me to change the topic before i can even finish giving you the elevator pitch, you immediately lose reputation points with my faction.
The thing about living in the Algorithmic Age is a bunch of hitherto fantastical shit is completely normal now. "Is an invisible, inhuman adversary surveilling my every word and deed, and sending me upsetting visions purely to torment me?" Yeah man, pretty much. We just call it ragebait though.

ICE wearing bodycams is useless without strong, independent oversight that can be trusted to save/publish footage of ICE murdering people. But everyone involved is either a fascist or a collaborator, so the only footage we'll see is propaganda demonizing protestors. It's abolition or nothing.
I wish they would invent a way to focus on your work that didn't involve chugging energy drinks while listening to 5 different white noise / ambient tracks all playing at once.
Some of you have forgotten that only three years ago you were perfectly capable of writing a text, writing an email, telling a bedtime story to a child, and it should worry you that powerful companies have convinced us we can’t do things we’ve been doing since the dawn of time.

If I could find a way to reproduce deadline-panic productivity without deadline-panic stress, I would be unstoppable.
You probably can't immediately cancel your current credit card in protest. But you CAN call and tell them you're switching to cash for as many daily/weekly purchases as possible until they stop censoring artists. This costs you nothing, but represents a massive loss for them if enough people do it.
