This has been the longest week of my life, and I am completely exhausted. I know I care too much about my work, but when I ask "So what is the return on this investment?", the correct answer for me not to feel drained of my life force is not "Don't worry about it".
BTW… if you're thinking about RUNNING for Regina city council in 2 years, this year's budget (in December) would be a really good jumping on point if you want to learn what council involves and what the major issues will be for the 2nd half of this council. #yqrcc
This is solid information for Regina too! (Although our municipal election isn't for 2 years.) #yqrcc
Proof that my 50K in student loans was worth it. Yes, I had to Google the supply and demand curves to make sure I was right.
Happy birthday to Mimi who is turning 9 today. She has just discovered that she can get warm if she allows a blanket to be above her. Truly, this is growth 😂❤️🎂
The dilemma of having extreme insomnia and needing coffee but also it being my time of the month when coffee makes me feel ill. I can't take today off because I am covering for someone who is returning to a trashcan fire of an inbox AND I haven't finished my summary for book club. A perfect storm

IT IS COMPLETE! Six years of stitching, and it's ready for @desertbus.org. I can't wait to see who wins this, and I hope we can raise a (house)boatload of cash! It's 20 years of Desert Bus, and I can't believe it! I started watching in 2010 and raised over $20K with my work. Absolutely insane.
BWAHHAHA HAHAHAHAH! The complaints they get are almost ALL about "My street got dug up and I didn't have water for a day and now my sidewalk is fucked for a year goddammit!!" But yeah… that gets cut b/c can't risk having a large diameter watermain blow & having no water for a month. #yqrcc
Admin: Our highest priority is large pump stations, large pipes. Lower priority is pipes in front of homes that we can fix when they break. If we had to cut capital, we'd recommend local infrastructure so we don't have a larger impact on overall utility. #yqrcc
This is your occasional reminder that generative "AI" in particular could have been developed on public domain materials and/or licensed and compensated works but the major players intentionally, methodically and systemically chose to steal labor from working creative folks instead
Part of why I don't like the AI-or-bust economy is the constant flopsweat of people on the news who say this HAS to work. Quit making everyone so anxious. Goddamn. If this is the next Google then why are you acting like this? I don't remember being told to buy an iPhone at gunpoint.
Ugh, the carried thread appearing between two flower buds. 💯👌💯 I feel you, past embroiderer. I see you. Don't let the clean back supremacy win - we've been fucking around and cheating our way to beautiful outcomes since time immemorial and it truly doesn't matter
The gossamer muslin used to create early c19th gowns was sometimes described as ‘woven wind’, an amazing description for the lightweight fabric. Here it has been embroidered with wool and I can only imagine the challenges that came with such stitching. C1815 #NGVMelbourne #FashionHistory 🗃️🪡

In the most recent Queen City Improvement Bureau, we talk about AI, AI data centres, noise issues, environmental calamity & that cruddy "Tsiklis Listens" poster from a Regina city councillor. Our guest is Simon Enoch from the Cdn Ctr For Policy Alternatives. youtu.be/O1u24Kg0LoI?... #yqrcc

I would certainly argue that Regina's plan to rebuild Sask Drive with a multi-use path that will be regularly interrupted by driveways to businesses doesn't work so well given our recent rash of pedestrian accidents 🤦
Every street is a type of road, but not every road is a street. Our cities are full of roads masquerading as streets and the results of that design choice are clear. Streets become deadly barriers to the freedom of independent mobility for everyone outside of a car.
Corridor zoning is the thing Regina city hall is all up on post-HAF. #yqrcc
While this looks transit-oriented, maximizing access to the subway would look more like circles of residential density around each station, rather than one long string of density down the road.
It is a subtle decorative choice, wrapping the body in mint green chiffon with a swirl of piping around the waist attached with bridging stitches. Early #1940s style, soft layers and sleeves that seem to fold into themselves #goldsteinmuseum #FashionHistory 🗃️🪡
My street is quiet, the construction is finally over. Now I can finally sit and do some reading on my porch... Or I could immediately get jumped by the neighbor cat. Either/or.
NYC is opening 160 car-free (but treat-filled) streets and plazas to enjoy fun and safe fall festivities this spooky season. Find one near you at nyc.gov/trickorstreets.
This is a really nice walk through illustration over the last ~70 years.
I was going over some of the trends/eras of illustration with my students today and Corporate Memphis created the most conversation. It was compared to a business man in a happy face mask, Arial & pop music. Good in contexts like brightening up a train station, bad in masking the cruelness of tech.
Hope your day was better than Darwin’s, on this day 165 years ago
it's the 260 year anniversary of the time angry rioters filled the streets with cheese wheels
It is too late, I have already depicted myself as the άνθρωπος ίσχυρός and you as the άνθρωπος παρθένος 🫵
It has finally happened. I have finally had a discussion at work that was so stupid, such a waste of time and money, and so patently ridiculous that it has legitimately made me want to either quit or burn down a building
