It's amazing to be how many Serious Thinkers™ conceive of junkies as random spawn NPCs, like Aristotle thought rotten meat spontaneously generated maggots. These are people. They need food, housing, and medical care, including mental and physical health. If they can't have that, they have this.

It was inevitable that reactionary centrists would turn against harm reduction and call for a return to mass incarceration

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

An aircraft passenger oxygen mask: a drop down passenger mask with air bag and yellow plastic mouth and nose cover, oxygen tube has been cut; Demonstration model used by flight attendant crew for passenger instruction. Has text on the side indicating that it's non-functional.

Clerk: I think it's going to be a beautiful weekend. But I don't even check the weather any more. It's always wrong. Me: Yeah, that's because the government cut funding so now we only launch about half as many weather balloons. Clerk: Wow! You don't even think about stuff like that! Me: I do 🙃

I don't think this was malicious. Small companies get sold AI they don't understand on false promises. I just wish they didn't then blunder into a backlash like a dog on roller skates through a field of banana peels. "But, but, but, the guy who sold it to us said it was good! Why are you mad?"

A pharmacy chain in Vermont implemented AI for efficiency. It's led to delays, incorrect information and privacy concerns. - VTDigger

As AI pops up in healthcare systems across the country, several lawyers told VTDigger that the technology is outpacing regulation, leaving consumers vulnerable.

Okay, serious question: I've been playing Ark pretty much exclusively for the last *checks watch* four or five years. I love it. I've just spent enough time with it. Should I...buy Palworld

I no longer wish to perceive superhero movies. Keep this nonsense out of my sight* *until or unless they make Squirrel Girl and if they to that it better fucking be good.

I'm not usually in a position to observe this, but as a crowd thins out in the early hours of a morning, the last people left are not just the young. They're the ones who don't know when, or possibly how, to stop.

Funeral this morning. Wedding this afternoon. And now I'm in a tent halfway across the state, trying to nap through a brass band (not a joke) so I have energy to put in an appearance at the barn rave later. I have plenty of calm days, but this has not been one of them.

ICYMI yesterday, my husband swerved to avoid a cat and hit a tree. The internet likes cats, right? Well I had to spend a good chunk of our rent money to get the car towed and now I'm walking ~10 miles a day to get to work. So subscribe or share, anything helps 😩

We just had a car accident and totaled our only vehicle. If you've got $5 a month & like the idea of a trans space epic from a bestselling, award-winning author inspired by 1980s cinema, my serial sure could use the subscribers right now. :( www.patreon.com/sahuntbooks

Looked up an ink cartridge on Staples website. It's in stock. I go to the store to get it. It's $10 more at the store. Big sign on the wall: PRICE MATCH GUARANTEE. Me: Uh...I'd like to call in the price match. Her: Who beat our price? Me: Staples? Her: Ohhwwww.

Got a drink called a "Strawberry Fizz" while waiting for food. Did not do the math on empty stomach + residual meds + booze. So now I'm annoyingly buzzed off of something called a Strawberry Fizz.

So, my pharmacy replaced pretty much all phone and website functions with a chatbot a little while ago. I switched pharmacies to a lower-tech local. Today I went to the previous pharmacy to get some records and tell them why I was leaving.
