Absolute longshot: I'm looking for Euan Smith who drew artwork for White Dwarf magazine in the mid 1980s and therefore is probably British and probably in his late 50s or 60s. Do you or did you know him?

Hi Simon. I'd like to buy a stranger a book by Tom Cox up to the value of £20. @dj-acid-reflux.bsky.social is an awesome contemporary author. All his books are refreshingly original, and his latest novel, Everything Will Swallow You, is particularly joyous.

If you check out the #buyastrangerabook hashtag and you live in the UK, you'll see about 10 unclaimed offers. People are offering to buy people books, but nobody is asking. It's not tricky to do. Essentially, people are being lovely. So check out the hashtag, stop being a doof, and just ask!

Another #buyastrangerabook day offer for you! @jajrobertson.bsky.social is offering to buy someone a copy of The Deptford Trilogy by Robertson Davies. If you'd like it, just get in touch. UK only

Front cover of the book.

And also the blurb, which reads;
At two minutes to six on December 27th 1908 the lives of three people become inextricably bound together by the trajectory of a snowball. There is ten-year old Dunstable Ramsay, intended victim of the snowball, who, fatefully, ducks; his 'lifelong friend and enemy' Percy Boyd Staunton, angered by their recent quarrel, who hurls the snowball; and Paul Dempster, prematurely born when his pregnant mother is struck by Percy's icy missile. Tracing the rich and varied lives of these three individuals, The Deptford Trilogy lures the reader down labyrinthine tunnels of myth, history and magic in one of the most beguiling, clever and cunning trilogies ever written.

Sometimes I think about the me that almost was. The city I almost moved to. The call I almost made. The person I almost let get closer Now and then, late, I feel the ghost of one of those paths. And got a feeling I’m not the only one But maybe it’s not too late to borrow a little courage from that
