So you must visit. It’s where I grew up or if I had of grown up, this where it would have happened. Did I mention the 2026 Championship winning captain is also a Shropshire Lad 😉
Fine scenery, historic towns and great pubs: a weekend walk on the Shropshire Way
This came first as a surprise but then it also seems the perfect fit www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricke...
Paul Farbrace: Sussex boss leaves to become Lancashire director of cricket
Lancashire appoint Paul Farbrace as their new director of cricket weeks before he was due to begin the same role at Sussex.

Asked to do this for Sheffield Cricket Lovers’ Society thought I’d share here as well. Similar groups around the country so if you fancy meeting up with others who also miss the cricket season; this might be for you.
It’s a sanctuary for me; chaotic and defiant and a reason which makes sense to me; not many others thing do.
I am missing the County Championship already
It’s the 1st October, which can only mean one thing: it’s WAR. Here’s how to survive the next six months. www.kiaoval.com/nightwatchma...

Our friends at the Nightwatchman have plenty of fantastic writing to keep you occupied over the long winter months, not to...

Love these recordings as I love radio but that morning in 67 I reckon Paul Hollingdale had it easy compared with trying to explain where you can find County Cricket on any given day on Sports Extra, Two and Three 🏏 📻 😉

Somerset will play in Division 1 for a record extending 18th consecutive season in 2027 👊 #YouAreSomerset @wpahealthinsurance
Last week, I watched each morning, groundstaff mowing the square, and I was thinking why so my attention, knowing they will be stripping the whole lot off this week. Answer. They wanted it to look as good as it would for a test macth every day till the end. Dedication.
Remember Leicestershire weren’t so much docked 19 pts but as very clearly stated in the playing regs; a team takes 0 pts from a game in which found guilty to have prepared a below average/poor pitch. If they had lost, it might have been 3 points docked. It’s supposed to be an automatic penalty.
I’m trying to understand why when a pitch is marked Poor and therefore below average and the Discipline panel upholds that; How it then gives them back 8 points. All clubs are aware that if a pitch was marked poor or below average they would gain 0 points from that game.
It’s far from certain that today could be the day the Champions are crowned but if……..

So much fuss made about whether or not the GMT clocks should go back and forth. Who cares! Tomorrow however Cricket starts at 1030. That matters!

This was supposed to be some hilarious joke about the new BlueSky feature where you can download videos up to ten minutes long; except my arm started to ache after three minutes. Anyway it’s a bit bleak in Birmingham Champo people.
I've got to a place in life where, having been fed so much agenda driving misinformation I trust little these days....so this is my take on the men's One Day Cup from what I see & hear. It's growing with good crowds (Not and never will be enough for global audience chasing broadcasters)............
One of my jobs early on is to dial into Salford. A friendly voice said you've not dialled in for the hundred have you! My work here on earth is done 😊 😉 I dialled up for Surrey v Kent by the way........BBC SOUNDS Sports Extra 3 and Online.
I have had a call from BBC Somerset to join them on their Breakfast Show. I wonder what they want to talk about?
Hi I don't come on here that often, even though I know you lot are the good ones and not the dark destroyers of life that are allowed and encouraged to destructively roam this earth. I'm lucky to get to say all I want on air, and once said it is never worth repeating....BUT........
I guess then I should write something about extraordinary day at Lord’s but truth I feel little but disappointed for cricket. Keeping close eye on what decision is taken over Lancashire pitch & the possibility of questioning the cricket regulator. Independence is one thing; context perhaps another.
Hi Iain presume you are following the legend @kevinhowells.bsky.social and his cricket following/followers. @elizabethammon.bsky.social
If you are ever in Bedale and at the same time think what I really want now is a burger and fries and all done special; please find your way to OFF THE RAILS. If you are neither in Bedale or like burgers please enjoy another eatery. But this place has one of those happy place feels. #influencer.
The England openers have walked out at Lord's. What do they have in common? Both learned their cricket at Northamptonshire - before wealthier counties led them away. Yet many 'eminent' pundits would wish to consign second-division clubs to history!
I’m struggling to think how that Premier League Darts final and that which followed can be beaten in moment of the year. The vulnerability, the personal strength and skill, and ultimately the decency and humility, the best of us on show from winner and loser.
Well I enjoyed those seven weeks and the tables suggest a season to remember. Those two internationals on two of the last four days of championship season are still looking more than disappointing.
