My new novel is out a week from today — tough timing because of the election & uh, you know, the world. With book reviews an extinct species, it's hard to get the word out. So tell your friends! Meanwhile, I've started the next one, folkish horror set in a bog at a remote Maine hunting camp. Onward!

Drew gets to bookstore owners in this thread but I can speak to how pervasive this has been in the book world. So many privileged people who just can't see the only thing the other side uses "common ground" for is to bury the people they don't believe have a right to exist.

Genuinely have to assume, at this point, that the people suggesting this crock of shit have never felt endangered in their lives (they are almost always straight white men, after all) but more so they lack the imagination or empathy to consider that others might have and might still.

Somehow, in the chaos of moving across country, I’ve been fortunate to have poetry published at One Art and upcoming in other journals. Maintaining a submission practice is never easy, and during a move, was not ideal. oneartpoetry.com/2026/05/29/l...

Left Turn by Kevin J. Fellows

Yesterday, the Senate Agriculture Committee moved a farm bill proposal forward. Food banks are already feeling the strain of high prices, & TEFAP food is down 30% amid rising need. We're urging Congress to keep reinforcing SNAP and TEFAP. Full statement: bit.ly/472XssN

With nearly 48 million people facing hunger across the country, the strain on the food assistance system is real. Lawmakers can strengthen nutrition programs to help people facing hunger keep nutritious food on their tables. 🖊️ Take action: bit.ly/3SNbBa9

The image features a message on a green bean background, stating: "Recent changes to nutrition programs—along with higher food and fuel prices—may mean more people turning to food banks for support." At the bottom, there's a call to action on an orange bar: "Take action: Send a quick letter." The Feeding America logo is in the corner.

The ‘let it rest’ phase for a novel in progress is dangerous for me. If I don’t allow it to sit long enough I miss issues that need fixing. If I wait too long I want to re-write the entire novel. Sometimes that’s what’s needed. Other times, the novel is sound and just needs to have issues addressed.

A short thread. When I was looking for literary models, I found John Crowley and his collection, & Go Like This. I read that book slowly, often rereading a story. The stories were lush, often dense, and strayed down detours. Writing short stories that way went against everything I’d been taught.
