I fear this is the case. Put the climate change deniers together with those who believe in the climate crisis but aren't prepared to do what's needed to limit it cos it's all too hard - and that almost guarantees non-action.

It seems a good day to remind people that in the UK 3 times as many people work in Indian restaurants or for McDonalds as in the whole coal and steel industry. 5 times as many are academic staff at universities. If Labour does not understand its electorate, there is no way to appeal to it.

Time for me to repeat one of my ‘sayings’. If you try to solve a problem by passing a law, but people don’t obey the law, you now have two problems where you used to have one.

Some very good points here. What are young people going to do instead, where will they go? Much infrastructure for young people's activities has gone. Kids with nowhere to go & nothing to do = increase in loneliness and/or antisocial behaviour.

I keep hearing people say things like the current race riots are wrong because immigration has fallen. You are missing the point. Firstly, the media are addicted to anti-immigration coverage, because it is so easy. Secondly, no drop in immigration will ever placate the racists.
