Our CEO recently shared that working remotely allows her to care for her 85-year-old mother. But for our coworker and fellow unit member, Rich, that’s not an option. Despite being the primary caretaker for his father, his remote accommodations have been abruptly rejected. His appeal? Denied.

What's disgusting? Union busting! AWU members in NYC came out to Brooklyn Borough Hall last Friday to rally against retaliation with our fellow unionized tech workers @kickstarterunited.org! Since workers won their strike last year, Kickstarter has fired FOUR union leaders in retaliation.

Rich is a skilled engineer and has successfully been working remotely for over six years, but despite the fact that our contract protects remote requests for this exact type of caregiving situation, the company is demanding he return to the office, leaving his father without essential care.

Today, NYT celebrates their successes from the past year, but we are witnessing a major failure of leadership: @nytimes.com mgmt is denying one of our members, Rich Quan, permission to continue working remote, even as a certified caregiver for his 96-year-old father, who suffers from Alzheimer's.

Four members of @kickstarterunited.org who played an active role in the November 2025 labor strike have been laid off, with one member forced out of the bargaining unit. The union has filed unfair labor practice charges against Kickstarter, alleging anti-union retaliation.

KSRU members are facing retaliation for legally-protected activity after a historic 42 day long strike in October/November of last year. On February 11, 2026, Kickstarter targeted union members who took an active role in the strike, laying off four people and moving one out of the bargaining unit.

Despite being back at work, Kickstarter is retaliating against our teammates for our legally-protected strike action from last year. Tell Kickstarter’s CEO this is both ILLEGAL and UNACCEPTABLE
