There was one Christmas where my parents gave me a VHS copy of The Little Mermaid and I watched it relentlessly for the entirety of winter break while eating giant bag of peanut M&Ms and it still lives on in my memory as the best Christmas ever. John is recreating that memory for me this morning. 😭

I had a dream last night that I was out with a bunch of friends. It was nearing 11:30 and they all wanted to go to a second venue. I got so mad and kept saying it was late and I needed to be in bed, so I made a complete scene about it and got an uber home. Look forward to your 40s, kids.

Starting off my last week before vacation with a 9:00 dental cleaning this morning followed by: 🎵 3 days of travel 🚘 2 production rollouts 💻 1 company dinner 🍽️ and enough stress to give me a coronary 🫀 🎵 Send help.

My dad used to keep a collection of fun pencils in his filing cabinet for whenever we’d need pencils for our homework. It was always special to get one of the filing cabinet pencils. After he died, I went through his filing cabinet and found one of the special pencils, still intact and unused.

A picture of an old snoopy pencil from the late 80s I think that has not been sharpened yet. Snoopy is in a boat fishing in a lake. The eraser is dried and hard as a rock. It’s the little things.

[spends an hour agonizing over possible dates/times to schedule an appointment I've been putting off for weeks, maybe months] [calls for appointment] [receptionist offers day/time that I wasn't expecting] [brain malfunctions] Me: sure. [hangs up] [looks at calendar] Me: fuck.

I grew up with Ray Conniff Christmas albums playing on the living room stereo from Thanksgiving to New Years. It was a magical time in my childhood that no other season or holiday could top. I still listen to Ray every December. Share a favorite Christmas album/song with me. I need some joy today.

Over on Letterboxd, I’ve been slowly curating a list over the years of movies I’ve seen that have cats or cat-themed things in them. (They have to be things I’ve actually spotted myself or they don’t count!) If you’re into that sort of thing, be my friend: boxd.it/ez7l

Back in summer '23 I started having really bad ankle pain and had to stop running...an activity I simultaneously loathed and loved. I went to a foot doctor and got orthotics, but it took FOREVER for the pain to reduce even slightly. I thought I would never be able to run again. But today, I ran!
