Oh man! I really dug this. What a gem. I find the creativity and authenticity at this budget level really inspiring. Go in as blind as possible. Shout out to @freddyinspace.bsky.social for putting it on my radar. Had no idea it existed until he posted about it.
Now watching: Marshmallow (2025) Dir. Daniel DelPurgatorio
I saw a wonderfully gruesome horror movie called BRING HER BACK this afternoon. Thoughtful, textured, and scary as hell.
HUGE congrats to @hauntedmeg.bsky.social and @freddyinspace.bsky.social on this much deserved recognition. Without exaggeration, two of the hardest working folks I know in this space. Bloody Disgusting is lucky to have them. www.prnewswire.com/news-release...

A dream interview was chatting about WEREWOLVES with SFX legend Alec Gillis. Of all the movie monsters he's delivered in his impressive career, this marks his first werewolf! And he's already champing at the bit for a sequel: bloody-disgusting.com/interviews/3...

Surprise! Casper Kelly's ADULT SWIM YULE LOG 2: BRANCHIN' OUT is now streaming on Max! "Zoe tries to escape the horrors of the first film by fleeing to a new country, but the murder log has travel plans of its own."
I can't believe some old video store practically gave away the Christmas classic "Silent Night, Deadly Night 5" with a 39-cent rental.
Few things I love more than coming across Gremlins on TV during the holiday season. I'm tired. I was about to go to bed. But it can wait. I don't leave Kingston Falls until the movie kicks me out.
Here we go! A very heavy stack this year that I’m immensely proud of, both in my contributions and that of my tireless colleagues. All available right now vinegarsyndrome.com
Annual reminder that The Munsters escorted Santa in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade back in 1964. Fred Gwynne reportedly got drunk and was shouting at everyone. Isn't that what the holidays are all about? Happy Thanksgiving!
The dirty little open secret to writing is that no one will ever know, nor care, how many drafts of a thing were written - people will only ever care about the crafted thing, and will, despite all knowledge to the contrary, assume it came out fully formed that way. No one thinks about shit drafts.
If you're looking for something fun to watch this week, BLACK FRIDAY (2021) is streaming on Prime Video. A very enjoyable little 1980s-style throwback. Cool practical creature effects, a fun cast of lovable sad sacks (Bruce Campbell! Devon Sawa!), and a final act that gets admirably wild. I'm a fan!

Two important TERRIFIER notes: 1) Lauren LaVera (@laurenlavera.bsky.social) is now on Bluesky. Make sure to give her a follow! 2) TERRIFIER 3 will be available on Digital at home beginning TOMORROW, NOVEMBER 26!
The "bluesky is an echo chamber" think pieces that keep popping up really tickle me because they show how certain people genuinely believe social media should be for debating and arguing and not talking about the things that make you happy and sharing art with the world.
One of the things I've come to dislike most about social media is the hyperbole. Everyone's so desperate for engagement that they're dialing their responses to anything & everything up to an extreme. It's particularly bad over on Twitter. Would love to see this place foster a different environment.
Bought one of those old school TV/VCR combo deals so I can watch stuff like the Madballs VHS tapes while eating dinner. Instantly felt my life and mental health improve. Recommend.
ALIEN: ROMULUS is now streaming on Hulu. It'll be joined on Hulu by the brand new television series ALIEN: EARTH in Summer 2025.
