The dirty little open secret to writing is that no one will ever know, nor care, how many drafts of a thing were written - people will only ever care about the crafted thing, and will, despite all knowledge to the contrary, assume it came out fully formed that way. No one thinks about shit drafts.

If you're looking for something fun to watch this week, BLACK FRIDAY (2021) is streaming on Prime Video. A very enjoyable little 1980s-style throwback. Cool practical creature effects, a fun cast of lovable sad sacks (Bruce Campbell! Devon Sawa!), and a final act that gets admirably wild. I'm a fan!

The "bluesky is an echo chamber" think pieces that keep popping up really tickle me because they show how certain people genuinely believe social media should be for debating and arguing and not talking about the things that make you happy and sharing art with the world.

One of the things I've come to dislike most about social media is the hyperbole. Everyone's so desperate for engagement that they're dialing their responses to anything & everything up to an extreme. It's particularly bad over on Twitter. Would love to see this place foster a different environment.
