Vinyl records have an amazing sound. CDs and MP3 files are made from a digital intermediary that is compressed and these technologies often have a limited dynamic range. The mechanical noise in the stylus and analog preamp can't be easily replicated by a digital filter.

Earth is now warming faster than at any point in recorded geological history - around 10 times faster than the extreme warming event 56 million years ago and 20 times faster than at the end of the last ice age. We are almost certainly in a new extinction event.

The same sandstone (Parfrey's Glen Formation) also occurs deep within the Devil's Lake gorge near the SW corner of the lake, though not exposed there. That is, the present gorge is most likely an exhumed ancient landform, Late Cambrian or older. The same is true of smaller gorges like Parfrey's Glen

A BILLION YEARS OF MISSING TIME The Great Unconformity at East Bluff, Devil's Lake, Wisconsin: 1.63 Ga Baraboo Quartzite overlain by a boulder breccia at the base of the sandstones of the Cambrian Sauk Sea (600-505 Ma). ⚒️

A female geologist has her hand on a low outcrop of quartzite, and that is overlain by ~2m of boulder breccia and then bedded sandstone.
