I think it's interesting that stealing faces, words, and voices were behaviours historically ascribed to literal demons in various cultural myths across the world but somehow when AI does it, there are people going "isn't this neat?"

Somebody needs to take the word "quietly" away from the journalists.
The piping plover is in real danger. Please write to your MP and to Minister Julie Dabrusin asking that a federal emergency protection order be issued. Let's do our very best to not let a species go extinct. nwmd.social/s/copylink/4...

And I will recommend you The Wager by David Grann. Have you read The Wager by David Grann? You should read The Wager by David Grann.
Know what's cool? When you ask a bookseller or librarian instead of a chatbot for a book recommendation or for more information about xyz, they provide you with actually useful information. And then when you read those recs, you form your own thoughts. Just sayin' 🤷♀
I want people to understand the full impact of the devastation that First Nations in Canada are facing. It's NOT just that people and wildlife are losing their homes...it's the history that is being lost for generations to come.

A January 6 rioter now has a top-secret clearance in the Pentagon. It’s the latest example of a dangerous trend in the Trump administration, @willgottsegen.com argues in The Atlantic Daily.

URGENT: Trump has lost it, and we need to stop him NOW. He threatened to erase Iran's entire civilization tonight. That's genocide, plain and simple. We only have a couple hours to act before it's too late: action.eko.org/a/impeach-tr...
Impeach Trump NOW
Over a month ago, while Washington D.C. was asleep, Donald Trump pushed the button. He didn't ask Congress, he didn't show proof of a threat, and he didn't care about the consequences. He just selfish

Listen, I love complaining but even I cannot believe some of the things people will complain about. Oh, are there skippable ads in this fun, free podcast? Oh, are there three paragraphs of personal narrative prior to a nice recipe someone has decided to share with you also for free? Good lord.
I guess I just don't feel 100% positively that everyone feels empowered and encouraged to review everything.
Just received an unsolicited email about receiving medically supported weight loss treatment from a telecommunications company that has taken control of a portion of healthcare. I am not a customer of this telecommunications company. Everything about this is so grim it's unbearable.
There's a special irk in my heart for this & its converse messaging, "this is how you age when you're unproblematic," often said about wealthy celebs. There are many creative, incisive, earned insults we can level against fascists & transphobes without leaning on a philosophy of Imperative Beauty.
I see "hate ages you" a lot, about fascists and transphobes who are looking old. You know what else ages you? Aging.
So grateful to have had the opportunity to chat about this poetry collection I loved so much!

It's hard to live in a city that continually insists on making itself worse.
The paywalls I keep hitting on all news outlets are giving me a real crawling-up-the-walls, cabin fever energy.
I think it’s time to put this one back out into the ether, friends Come and learn about how the tropes undergirding anti-Jewish hatred and conspiracy theories as they exist today came to be…

Gotta get the history to know where the tropes live in the discourse today.
