🧵#Alaska #uglydogs Crying as I write this. We said goodbye to @arcticvelocipedist.bsky.social on July 22 to cancer. He was only 56, easily one of the most fascinating people I’ve ever known. Many Bluesky peeps have asked how to help, and give, to honor him. Some ideas:
@muppybean.bsky.social did you solve your dangling doody conundrum?
So Home Depot is selling a lot more stuff in their HVAC aisle that you use to only find at the supply house. Capacitors, contactors, transformers, hard start kits, hot surface ignitors, flame rods, rescue motors... All priced comparatively with what I'd bill. This will end well.
I love the look of surprise people have when I don't bill them for the stupid easy fixes.
Measurements taken on a roof at 4:00 PM this afternoon. Probe was placed in the shade. At this point sweating accomplishes nothing and hydration is a challenge.
Glad to know HRH is taken care of. #uglydogs

Jesus fucking christ can the world just fucking stop being shitty for five godsdamned minutes?
Sign at the grocery store over the, well stocked, bagged salads: Surpise Buy of the Week!!! Ummmmm....... Yeah.
Moving my father's desktop from Windows 11 to Linux Mint 22.3 (Cinnamon). Lenovo really didn't want me to boot from the USB as primary. Almost like it knew I was going to murder Windows. This is part of why I'm murdering Windows you fucks.
It's very affirming to work with an apprentice you haven't had any jobs with in a while and realize they've adopted your van organization and tool load out methods.
So for a convoluted series of reasons I felt compelled to message my D&D group chat and asknpur youngest player (23) if he was familiar with The Game. His response was a spring breeze across my gnarled and withered soul. Oh, and you're all welcome. 😈
Screw? Black. Enclosure? Black. Screwdriver tip? Black. The fact that the blades mpunt at an angle to the surface that's on a bearing is just a little something extra.
So that was cool. Just sitting here playing D&D and the count rate alarm on my little Geiger counter goes off. And a few minutes later it did it again. Weird.
FUUUUUUUUCK!!! *work stuff but feel free to apply to whatever you want.
If you ever want to look like some sort of witch doctor to your coworkers get good at diagnosing transient low voltage faults. Better yet, just have a feel for it. Fair warning, you'll get called names occasionally.
I will not admit to how many times I watched him float by.
Hydration break.
70'000 people all yelling in unison can make a helluva noise.
The CPA's office is cooling. The fancy cookie place is cooling. The grow/packaging facility that supports the local dispensary's break room minisplit..... That shit's fucked, good luck. 3 day weekend. Savanna Bananas on Saturday. First Grain Belt already downed. Fuck heat waves.
We can go back to winter any time now.
What I say: "Okay pups, bed time." What they hear: "Weeeeeeeelcome to Bitey Face on the Bed! Let's get ready to ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuumble!!!
You know it's bad when dispatch is triaging calls. Calls for anything other than no cooling at all are getting held. House with multiple units and the upstairs system is down? We might get to you next week.

Less King of the Jungle today and more 70s Southern Rock/Eurocentric Son of God.
So couple things... 1.) Copper pipe is really good at staying hot after you've brazed a fitting. 2.) Carrier's engineers learned how to route pipes by watching 1990's screen savers.
Sigh..... Got home from a day spent on a roof. Immediately showered and then cranked the bedroom A/C to arctic and passed out for a bit. Please note the complete lack of any mention of drying my hair. I now look like I have a lion's mane. Hakuna matata I guess.
