A deep blue evening crossing the salt divide between work and home. Without fail the old red Miata earns waves and compliments, evidence that less is more.
Seattle needs an elephant seal that terrorizes the town
The sheer injustice in Houston is sickening. Lorenzo was just going to work to support his family when his life was stolen by ICE. Seeing his father on his knees, consumed by raw, agonizing grief, is a heartbreaking reminder of the human cost of systemic violence. He deserves justice.
Mamdani got into office and instantly: • Froze rent for 2 million New Yorkers • Cut subway fares in half for low-income riders • Fully funded NYC parks • Added $680M for public schools • Launched free child care for 2-year-olds If establishment politicians actually wanted to help you, they could.
I’ve been reading The Hobbit to my son (9) every night for the last few weeks. We finished it last night. His verdict: “This is probably one of the best books I’ve ever read.”
A month in Iceland, 400kms trekked, some hard days, some great days, epic scenery, birding life list added to and an awesome week with @pandamom.bsky.social as the icing on the cake. Thanks to everyone who donated to Irish Dogs For The Disabled and making the challenge a success.
I was met by an eagle taking flight when I pulled out of the gate this morning on my way to the office. He traced the road around a curve flying low over a deer who ran beside me before alighting upon a branch with his prize of carrion when I stopped to take his portrait. A good omen for the day.
Don’t we have some orcas up here? What are they doing this week?
alaska friends just spotted zuckerbergs yacht (387 ft) traveling with its support yacht (252 ft). it’s oligarch season on the inside passage!
Morning tea: a whole tangerine hollowed out & stuffed with Shu Puerh (fermented dark tea). These are then baked over a low fire for 26 hours. The result is a rich & unique flavor that combines citrus notes of the dried tangerine with brioche & chocolate notes of the Puerh. Gives a peaceful feeling.✌🏼
Wee Fergus the Fighter is strong enough to walk to his outdoor paddock at the vet clinic, where he spent his first Big Boy Night Out with his nursing mom, Mouse. We got the great news that they can come to Skydog on Monday!

From the Olympics to the Cascades, it's a glorious #4thOfJuly in the Pacific Northwest! The Brothers and Mt Rainier
I really want to thank my city for cancelling its fireworks display due to fire danger. A huge portion of our state is on fire right now and we don't need more.
Thank you, Carla. Thank you.
I plan to spend some time today writing #postcards to #Voters for #Democracy. It seemed for me the best way to honor the 250th of the America so many peoples fought for. They weren’t sure it would work nor are we. So we just keep going! #Vote 💙❤️💙❤️
And the same for authors and books
Happy 4th of July to those who appreciate that America is a melting pot of many different flavors, not just angry, uneducated mayonnaise.
Not gonna lie, the fact that AI data centers are being cooled while Americans die in the street from heat stoke is really pissing me off.

Asking folks not use AC in a heatwave is moronic. Turn off the damn data centers.
