you ever feel bad applying for a job? like 'theres a single laid off parent who needs this more than me' with the amount of layoffs is almost feels unethical / wrong to steal the opportunity away from someone who needs it more

Indie Producer. Volunteer Kickstarter consultant. Journalist for /r/GameDev. Here to talk about #gamedev and find new #indie games. Gotta support the indies.
🎉 HUGE CAREER ANNOUNCEMENT 🎉 Today, I'm launching Vertical Slice, a new independent trade outlet committed to producing quality video game journalism that inspires, informs, and interrogates. That means daily news, incisive interviews, vital investigative work, and more. www.verticalslice.news
Explains to a user how the indie sub with anti-ai rules gets more ai content than the general purpose gamedev sub. Gets blocked instead of a response. Fun!
need a solid business idea. thinking of a dating app for gamedevs to come together to work on projects. also just thinking of a better traffic management system for restaurant lines.
me just figuring out how to use steam content builder, the announcement system, depots....fun times!
News agencies are demonizing a young man for taking a small vehicle to a lavatory truck parked nearby. In California it's now literally illegal to go to the bathroom at an airport.
i have a headache today from the amount of brigading by anti-ai people accusing organic indie devs of using ai or being bots when they aren't. now people are saying 'we arent extreme enough' with the anti-ai approach. the witchhunting has gotten so bad we had to ban the term 'slop' in our spaces.
I'm increasingly frustrated that people who are anti-AI aren't being taken seriously, and taking a page out of my thoughts on why the anti-trans backlash got as far as it did I'm starting to think the anti-AI side isn't extreme enough.
There is so much witchhunting in the gamedev / indiedev spaces lately, trying to prove a user is a bot or using AI when they aren't. Routinely almost 95% of our investigations find a user is indeed organic.
It's always weird seeing comments like this on BlueSky, because showcasing posts are not allowed in our community. These things simply do not happen in any noticeable capacity and we routinely remove more AI content than the 'anti-ai' indie dev spaces I also moderate lol.
feels like we really live in a delusional timeline. people keep trying to tell me that our community is 'pro-ai' when we remove more AI posts than 'anti-ai' spaces.
meta ai crashing #unity stock is going to make for a fun time. going to make so much stupid money when the AI bros realize meta isnt good and unity goes back up
honestly cant wait to get this one lurking project out the door and tackle a new one. i have a lot of ideas and stuff to get done, but things are looking up!
people really trying gate keep who is a 'game developer' in 2026 if you worked on a game, you are a game developer. it does not matter your job function.
By the way I'm now looking for gigs / employment again. If you're an #indie studio looking to launch a #kickstarter I'm available for free consultation and planning. If you're a larger studio the same offer applies except if the campaign gets funded there will be a 2% - 3% fee.
AI for coding is such an interesting concept because why spend tokens generating the same code instead of just pulling from a known good template? Seems like so much wasted opportunity.
What are some cybersecurity products you wish game studios had?
KO_OP offers people not just respect and dignity, but agency. (And they treat their actors as collaborators, not assets, in so much more than lip service.) They’re actually doing the ‘better way’ we yearn for….even when the way is a struggle. Please hire these folks, support however you can.
An important update from KO_OP.
on the topic of problems are concern trolls. someone tried to get us to remove a post about the Game Devs of Color Expo from our community by claiming it's pro-segregation. the GDoC expo is later this September and it's open for everyone + online, so please support it: www.gamedevsofcolor.org

the amount of ableist comments or slurs we have to remove from game development communities is always concerning. people are too comfortable being anonymous.
Did you know crowdfunding is nowhere near dead in #indie #gamedev? Double Fine just hit $400K a few hours ago and Airship Syndicate reached 50K wishlists because of their communities. Did a deep dive into both campaigns here: www.reddit.com/r/gamedev/co...

People really go on the internet and just tell lies for clicks. It's sad but that is why transparency is always important in game development. People need to trust you and understand why the choices you make are implemented.
maybe i should social media more instead of doom scroll. going to launch a fun hobby #2d #animation project if anyone wants to get reps in with deliverables you dont usually get to have.
