due to the thinner right of way in the mountains, a less-than-typical class of locomotives was built in-house at the AFRR's shops in Kerness, with inside motion to keep the locomotives as lithe as possible. trains of this loading gauge interchange with the main railway just south of Skeld Hills

The devastating 1906 Earthquake left SF in ruins. To clear the debris, local railroads were put to work. The upstart Ocean Shore RR, which terminated at 12th & Mission St, was key in clearing the inner city. Jobless residents found work in shoveling rubble onto waiting OSRR flatcars, as seen below.

The New River and Sandstone Falls stretches between Falstaf Jct. and Aquapolis, E.K.,nestled in the shadows of the Abalathian Mountains. while one of the country's smaller roads, it nonetheless provides important service, seen as 2-8-0 no. 73 heads a string of logs to the east interchange. #railsky
