Pretty stellar shot of a 4-4-2 sitting in West Oakland after a rainstorm in the 1930s.

This Fall is all about ALTA lore and the creation of a prototype freelance railroad for scratch. If you aren't already, I highly suggest climbing aboard to read and enjoy photos of how we worked to make the Alta California a reality!
Nine years(!) I've been developing the roster for the ALTA. I now present probably my most ambitious article I've ever written: It's worth the spare change, I promise you. It's also the tip of a bunch of longform articles on the ALTA & protofreelancing for YOU! www.patreon.com/posts/165762...
Do you love visiting Portland's ORHF? Do You love SP&S 700 how she looks today? I'm selling my sound and DCC equipped Paragon 4 BLI brass hybrid model for a discount. $599 and it can be yours! (+ Insured shipping of course) Original MSRP was $800

Popped the bell back on and now she's looking even better. It's now glued carefully in place with jewelery glue so it shouldn't fall off again.

So interesting 💭 "Relighting 'Nighthawks' - bit.studio reimagines Edward Hopper's classic artwork, turning the most crucial element, the 'light,' into something you can actually control!" The exhibit is held at the bit.studio gallery on the 3rd floor, Slowcombo building in Samyan, Bangkok. #art
Boy. I haven't done anything Wild West theme for a while. I thought it would be fun to make a 19th century inspired scene with both my 4-4-0 and newly acquired small 2-8-0 locomotives with their respective trains. I enjoy getting these trains out for a scene like this.
Layout update!! Second loop installed and running! Having more than one train at once is SO cool and will be even more awesome once I have more Milwaukee Road power to run alongside the NP
New business idea: BIG BOX with two separate stores inside: The FIXED PRICE store which has whatever quantity of product at the same price. The FIXED AMOUNT store which has the same, logical quantities of items at floating prices. No shrinkflating. Everything is in useful quantities.

this is not true. there was no conspiracy. it didn't matter whether the streetcars were publicly owned (seattle, detroit) or private (los angeles, atlanta). a thread (because i wrote a whole-ass book on this): 1/?
That said, I don't think that our car-dependent landscape and economy was inevitable... as I note here, in this review of a very good book about the early days of the automobile. www.nytimes.com/2024/05/14/b...

Is the Venga Bus a viable form of transit? In this dissertation I will...
Genuinely wish you could sort house, industrial, and commercial fans by CFM and whether or not they featured all metal construction.
Buongiorno! This morning I’m riding what’s probably Italy’s most unique train the 1960s-built Arlecchino, which runs as an excursion train across the country. Today’s run is between Milan and Verona, which should take just over 2 hours via the classic line. Let’s go! 🇮🇹

The Vallejo & Northern was a failed electric railway that aimed to link Sacramento and Vallejo. They only owned one streetcar. In downtown Sacramento, their only car was run to satisfy city franchises. From 1911 to 1914, it liberally ran from the M St. Bridge to the Western Pacific Depot. ca. 1912
