It's rained off and on most of the day, but the sky just opened up and it's pouring! I can barely see the neighbor's house through the rain.
GingerSnap moved long enough for me to get the 2026 calendar out. Looking back at July I now see why we were both so tired of going to medical appointments in Concord - we had 8 total (4 each). Some were 4 hrs, others 30 mins or less, but each required 2+ hrs of driving, wasting a lot of the day.

Decided to watch the Giants game tonight, even though it's on 🍎TV - not a fan of Apple in general and this didn't help at all. Took over am hour to get logged in, had to reset my password, unlock my account, and change my security questions to get in. I don't like the announcers - they're DREADFUL.
Sudden desire for Steak Diane for dinner tonight; haven't made it in years- maybe since 1st husband! Found a recipe that sounded good, took about 45 minutes start to finish. SO liked the sauce enough that he ate it all! #BlueSkySupperClub
Took care of things today. Picked up SOs insulin, withdrew cash for lawn guy, placed Instacart order, monitored shopper, put it away. Started next week's Misfits Market order. Put away CSA veggies. Scheduled annual service of oil, gas, and mini-split heating systems. Got new contact lenses shipped.

Lots of knitting yesterday and today at Knitwits and the group. Got my sutures out yesterday - still no nuts or popcorn for weeks, but blueberries and strawberries are now ok. Less rain today than predicted, might be mostly dry now until Sunday. Forgot to pick up our fancy organic chicken - oops!
Here are some of the songs I've been listening to this summer. It starts with a song Michelle and I love by Glen Hansard, a great musician who passed tragically this week. Our hearts go out to his family.
"Girl dinner" tonight because we had lunch out today and weren't up for a big meal. Cabot Sharp Cheddar and Club crackers and what the little local grocery store deli calls chef salad - cubes of salami and ham, cheeses, tomatoes, black and green olives with vinaigrette. I'd call it antipasto salad.
Tuesday was better than Monday - which wasn't hard! Housekeepers came and did floors and bathrooms. Won mah jongg with a favorite concealed hand 🀄. Got my hair cut and colored - it had gotten long and unruly with the humidity. Quiet dinner and a good baseball ⚾️ evening with knitting 🧶.
Rained 🌧much of Tuesday, and has rained today for 9 hours so far; currently expected to rain for at least another day before it stops for a couple of days. Surely the PTB will stop talking drought for a while. The river will be really full by the end of the week. Flooding possible to the west.
Knitting Sensational Shirttail again (I love it and someone put my 1st in the dryer), noticed an error yesterday. Ripped it out, convinced that I'd never remember the pattern without referring to it constantly. Then remembered the original was knit in a dark bar during open mic nights. I got this.
Eye Dr appt first thing this morning. As suspected, the cataracts are ready to be removed; was not expecting the left to be the bad one. Scheduled for January. Got new glasses, frames too, because I'll have to wear them from Labor Day until sometime in October. Eyes are still dilated after 5 hours.
Pretty good weekend. Made the decision to get rid of some lettuce and such without a provenance that I trust and clean out the fridge. Mostly done. Made progress on the current successful shawl and restarted a 2nd version of a favorite sweater. Tomorrow is cataract eval, stitches out Wednesday.
Quick dinner of mostly fresh produce after watching sports and knitting all afternoon. Chicken thighs and zucchini roasted with herbs, pepper, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce. Corn on the cob. Caprese salad. #BlueSkySupperClub
OMG! I was just subjected to a commercial for Hallmark Christmas In July. What the heck? I can't even watch that drek during the holiday season; why would they start it 6 months early?

Got hyaluronic gel injections in both knees this morning. Don't remember if they cause insomnia like cortisone jabs do. Just in case, I have a plan to deal with/make the best of it should I be awake. As long as I have a plan it'll be fine.

2 of 3 appts for this week completed. Seems the right cataract has grown in such a way to cause astigmatism - new contact fixed that - but getting cataracts done will be a relief. Means new glasses since they have to be worn for at least a month to get accurate measurements. It's quite a process.
Breakfast out this morning with the local farmer who raises fancy organic chicken and turkey. She's an amazing weaver, also knits and quilts; we've been trying to be friends since we met. Because of her farm schedule we can't leave it to serendipity so we're scheduling time for coffee and chats.

Just got email from our electric provider with tips on preparing for hurricane season. While we do occasionally get rain at the end of a hurricane, we are 60 miles inland from the 18 mile NH coast. Umbrellas and raincoats are handy, and I'll put the top up on my car if it looks threatening.
