Just here to post crafts and rebuild my golden era twitter follows Great Plains

One thing I won't forget about the pandemic was how the government prioritized people living and working in high risk areas, and designated downtown first, but did not exclude the hundreds (more?) of government and university workers who were all working for home

I remember that the province refused to prioritize teachers so when a colleague got a hot tip that a clinic was taking appointments without asking for proof you lived in a "high risk area" we called the clinic and walked around with my phone to everyone's classroom so they could make appointments

I got a flu booster today and it made me reflect on the sense of national accomplishment I felt when I drove to a public facility, waited in my car until my number was called on an app, and got my first covid jab. It's fucked the right gets to erase what a moment of technological liberation that was

Last year camping in the Redwoods we were next to a mother and her daughter who said they lived in a beautiful neighbourhood in Spokane right up next to the forest (she worked for the Forest Service). I hope they and everyone else is safe 🙏

Looks like I'm voting for the least bad option. I think Jeff is fine, he came into the hardware store I used to work at and was nice, and drives a sweet camper van. Good enough.

Looking up the two guys running in my ward this fall. This guy seems to be a "tough on crime, yes to developers" finance guy from Vancouver, so no thanks BUT I do need to know what he means by this. Beaches?? On the Red River???

Niche Winnipeg post but: hearing that Sherri Rollins is not running for councillor in my ward this round, please Lord let her not be running for the NDP federally for my riding

Honestly, our society is standing on the ruins of great publically funded kids TV shows from 1970-1999. I've seen a few newer ones that are ok? But nothing that can touch Magic School Bus or OG Sesame Street

Typing into the YouTube Kids search bar Me: "p..." YT Kids: "Punjabi songs?" "po..." "positive affirmations?" "Postm..." "POST MALONE!?" "Postman Pat!" It's literally just Postman Pat, every time

It's *almost* worth it to go back on FB to see if someone in the neighbourhood grows bearded irises and would be willing to share a rhizome or two with me, but not quite

I've been slowly transforming half of the backyard from garden boxes back to grass (for kiddo playing) and through a combination of too-wet-then-too-hot weather and going on a roadtrip it has stalled out at overgrown weed patch with volunteer plants

What's the toughest watch you can get that's not crazy expensive? I got a Timex Ironman watch from Poshmark and it is NOT standing up to the rigours of gardening and chasing a pre-schooler around splash pads

If I won the lottery but wanted to keep myself busy I'd start a salvage operation for old houses, specifically the old growth wood timbers that don't usually get salvaged. Hardware and windows do, sometimes flooring, but bigger pieces just get trashed usually

We had to leave Jasper a few days early, but we got a very special treat while we were there. We saw this mama Grizz and her cubs, another grizzly, and either a cub or a small brown black bear. We stayed in our car and left when the Parks guy asked us to, unlike some other folks

A zoomed in photo of a mama grizzly bear in Jasper National Park. Taken from inside the car across the highway, like a sane person
