Finished Sugar on Apple. Thought it marvellous in the round but that may just be Colin Farrell's voice.

Top three articles on the Times website are currently a barrage of hate against funding for disabled people, including an attack on Access to Work *which is money to help disabled people find/stay in paid work*
I see the Times is going full on attack disabled individuals as scroungers and layabouts with no consideration for how PIP is not an "out of work benefit" and how for many it is essential support to actually work and live.
There's scarcely been a day's writing when I've not had cause to recall my favourite ever quote from an author about their own work, from a Paris Review interview with John Banville in 2009.
Fascinating to watch people claim they don't think the Royal Marines would just kill innocents in a boat if they were told to. What is the basis of this belief?
Someone is going to have to step in and do something about After The Rain by Overmono. It's this year's Better If You Make Me by Ryan Davis & The Roadhouse Band. Other music exists but my brain isn't having it.
I’d say you shouldn’t be RTing internet oddballs calling millions of people “Inhuman fascistoid scum” if you wanted to keep your prestigious media job, but this stuff hasn’t inconvenienced her before.
The UK government, governed by the party of which Phillipson is chair, extended immunity for British soldiers engaged in extrajudicial killings in Northern Ireland yesterday. Yesterday.
Bridget Phillipson MP, Chair of the Labour Party calls the 'lethal force' proposal of Jenrick "disgusting and illegal". "Our armed forces are not going to start opening fire on unarmed civilians, and Reform are dragging their own reputations and credibility into the gutter by suggesting it"
Almost 30 years ago I was appalled at how the New Labour government was indulging and validating the right wing moral panic against asylum seekers. And every year since then I've seen my fears about where that would lead prove entirely well founded. The "legitimate concerns" debacle continues.
Robert Jenrick for Reform says that Royal Marines using "lethal force" on small boats could end it in days. "Deploy the Royal Marines into the Channel. If they need to use lethal force then they'll be able to do so. I think the problem would come to an end within a matter of days."
I mean, what could be more 21st century Britain than the public getting increasingly fucked off at cheats who win via fraud and shitehousing, ruining it for everyone
'They should be favourites for the title. They're a good side, full of good players...excellent bench. 'What happens if they win it? 'After all, this is all a sham...Their players are their players because of their sham.' ✍️ @knoxharrington.bsky.social's review… 👉 Read: mailchi.mp/theanfieldwr...

They need to start calling them people and not migrants, because too many people think migrants aren’t human.

Today is the first game since he left where I have thought "I really wish Mo Salah still played for us".
Scottish newspapers *still* running with the idea that those nine women were a bunch of liars, I see
The woman told a court she felt "hunted" by Salmond, who she claimed "pounced on her" in Bute House in 2014.
Bethany wore a “Protect The Dolls” t-shirt during rehearsals. The BBC posted it on their socials then quietly deleted and reposted it without showing her from the front. On TV last night they actually blurred the message #Strictly

p.s. Wrote a while back: Once again a small-town white American narrative is being treated as though it’s about all of us or all of us who count, as though Los Angeles and New York City, both of which have larger populations than many American states, are not America.

I mean he has downplayed the seriousness. The process that considers the findings has considered them and has been entirely independent. They are guilty of what the Premier League asserted they were guilty of. The football investment process has been linked by politicians such as Andy Burnham.
🗣️ "I haven't downplayed the seriousness of the findings." Andy Burnham has addressed concerns that he devalued the verdict against Man City after the club were found guilty of Premier League financial rule breaches.
For 14yrs, the Tories cratered our economy, added thousands to our cost of living, melted down public services and brexited us into decades of eye-watering expense and lost opportunity. That’s still their plan. With tax breaks for the super rich paid for by welfare cuts. So what TF is this headline?

I'm sorry if this is obvious but the Tory proposal to exempt family homes completely from IHT will lead to 1] pensioners buying the biggest houses they possibly can 2] pensioners refusing to downsize which can only be bad news for younger families trying to buy family homes
I hate this so much. The BBC should be providing good quality, good value programmes that the private market won't cover. You and Yours (which I kind of hate), Thinking Allowed and Free Thinking are exactly the sort of programming that the BBC is i) good at, ii) not haemorrhaging money to make.
BBC to cut raft of Radio 4 programmes including You and Yours
The corporation said it would be investing in a new consumer programme, while announcing more cuts.

Just constantly pushing at the edges of more and more far right politics. It isn't weird to me. It is what they have been doing for decades. The only thing that has changed is how far right they have managed to get and therefore what that does to the next push.
There is a rather wider minority for abolishing the Monarchy (about 1 in 5 to 1 in 4) than for the controversy of whether only white people can be English (1 in 10). It is weird the media classes are so rarely across how niche this 'controversy' is - about 1/4 Reform voters, but few others
They're polling eight points lower than their general election result, which was itself the worst in their entire history, their leader couldn't explain the big defense policy they opened conference with, none of their big new tax cuts are funded, and yet it's still covered as a triumph
