The consequence of the ability to produce copious quantities of text using AI tools (either AI generated or AI assisted) will force readers in take a stricter discerning view of what they engage with. There will be way more need for a visual complement. Time to get your art history books out!!

My Uncle once told me that he worked on the OXO tower in the 70s. Vicariously proud of this. I got challenged on this by Londoners who told me it was boarded up in the 70s " I thought you worked on the OXO building...it was all boarded up till the 90s" " I know...It was me who boarded it up"

"Oxo Tower Restaurant has been acquired by the trio behind Fallow in St James’s... [it] has been the butt of consistently dire reviews in Harden’s throughout its 30-year history, and has topped our list of the capital’s 'most disappointing cooking' for the past 3 yrs" www.hardens.com/uk-london/13...

""Julia can run 10x to 1,000x faster than Python on some benchmarks, per Wired — no C++ rewrite needed for speed. It launched in 2012. Yet Python still dominates ML/data science hiring. Speed doesn't win, ecosystem does. Julia's stuck proving that wrong."" #julialang www.wired.com/story/python...

Python Is So Slow. Can Julia Solve the Two-Language Problem?

By some benchmarks, Julia code can run 10X to 1,000X faster than Python—but there’s a reason it’s not a very popular programming language.

“The famine is over! The curse be damned!! Hit the nuclear button! Mayo have won the All-Ireland!!” An all-time great sports commentary moment from Stephen Grealis and Martin McHugh on Mayo’s Midwest Radio. #gaa

Interesting stuff Bluesky not really thriving for #rstats - but still doing well enough to try new strategies. An interesting analysis for me would be to pick a list of key R BSky accounts and track their followership - and post rate - over time

Event photography is a fairly serious matter for open source tech conferences —it’s the primary sales pitch for future sponsors and partners. Sponsors look for proof of ROI, high engagement, and community health. Every frame should signal that your event is thriving and worth backing. 1/n #rstats

Looking back at the early days of the London #Rstats User Group! I started going to the meetups around 2009 or 2010, where the quarterly meetups were held downstairs in the basement function room of The Shooting Star on Middlesex Street (now The Astronomer Pub), near Liverpool Street Station. 1/n
