The Korb Lab works at the intersection of epigenetics and neuroscience at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. Opinions are our own. http://korblab.com

Got to hood our recent grads Marissa and Sean today with our first PhD alumni Emily in attendance! Incredibly lucky to have had this crew to start the lab. 🥼

Fun week for the lab - Congrats to Kai for passing his qualifying exam, Alekh for receiving a Lurie Foundation postdoctoral award, and Annabel for getting her paper under review!

Microsoft Office's grammar editor and Grammarly are having a big argument about a comma in my word doc and it feels like I'm trying to break up a fight between children while writing a grant.

Can anyone who studies mosquitoes or Drosophila tell me if this atrocious freezing weather will mean fewer annoying bugs this summer?? Looking for any silver lining here...

Stoked to be repping the @korblab.bsky.social at #sfn25 this week! Come learn histone variant H2BE and its relevance to neurodevelopmental disorders on: 1. Saturday at the Early Career Session (#B1) 2. Monday at the Molecular Mechanisms Underlying Developmental Disorders II session (#A59) 🧠🧬🧪

The final tally of the laternfly squishing contest is in! No one came close to catching Audrey with a whopping 475. But Annastelle sneaked in for a unexpected 2nd place title reaching triple didgets with 107! Congrats to all for the effort in taking down a grand total of 813. Well done team.

The Anne West lab at Duke is hiring a postdoc to work on nuclear cell biology in neurogenesis. Please help me spread the word! Applications to west@neuro.duke.edu.

Sometimes you've just gotta focus on the problems you can do something about, however small... hence the inaugural KORB LAB SPOTTED LANTERN FLY SQUASHING CONTEST. Competition has only just begun and Audrey is off to a stunning start!! But can she hold the lead?? Time will tell.

So excited that Sean Louzon is defending his thesis this Friday!! Come to hear about his exceptional work on the histone variant H2BE in astrocytes and in aging brains.

Fantastic day for the Korb lab with Marissa defending her thesis on DOT1L function in the brain and passing the torch to Annastelle who passed her qualifying exam on testing mechanisms of DOT1L regulation of chromatin in neurons! May 20th shall henceforth be known as National DOT1L Day.

Check out our new review, written by @blukasak.bsky.social, on the role of histone variants in the brain, complete with model figures with all the information we could squeeze into one image!
