Microsoft Office's grammar editor and Grammarly are having a big argument about a comma in my word doc and it feels like I'm trying to break up a fight between children while writing a grant.
Can anyone who studies mosquitoes or Drosophila tell me if this atrocious freezing weather will mean fewer annoying bugs this summer?? Looking for any silver lining here...
Stopping ICE from terrorizing cities, kidnapping children, and murdering people on the streets is the most important priority. Even if it requires a shutdown or cuts to HHS funding.
Mark Peifer (He, him)@peiferlabunc.bsky.social · 6mo agoIf you are a scientist funded by NIH and agree that if the HHS/NIH bill is held hostage by linkage for funding to DHS/ICE, we need to shutdown both and save lives, its time to speak up. Right now, with a few exceptions, the silence is deafening

The final tally of the laternfly squishing contest is in! No one came close to catching Audrey with a whopping 475. But Annastelle sneaked in for a unexpected 2nd place title reaching triple didgets with 107! Congrats to all for the effort in taking down a grand total of 813. Well done team.
Congrats to our summer under grad Ishani and her mentor @annavoss.bsky.social on a great summer in the lab and presentation to our group! Ishani learned ALL the techniques and actually likes western blots.

Fantastic day for the Korb lab with Marissa defending her thesis on DOT1L function in the brain and passing the torch to Annastelle who passed her qualifying exam on testing mechanisms of DOT1L regulation of chromatin in neurons! May 20th shall henceforth be known as National DOT1L Day.
