We were already driving tonight when my wife realized she'd agreed to drive me to LAX instead of John Wayne even though I wrote LAX in the text & said I could Uber.
I knew I had this saved for a reason.

A *fun* part of corporate life is having to use your face as a passkey to unlock the Authenticator app so that it can use your face as a passkey to get to your email on your phone.
Of course, right after I posted that I noticed this and now I want to burn it all down.
Disagree with this brand of nostalgia brain. TV was not in fact better when I came home from school & my sister was watching reruns of Fresh Prince instead of something better. It was not better when some nights I ended up watching reruns of stuff like F Troop & Petticoat Junction.

"My wife was so afraid of me that she stuck around for a while after I abused her" is not the defense abusers think.
Rep. Max Miller: "My former wife has claimed that during a custody exchange at my home that day, I assaulted her…If I had assaulted her, would she have offered to cook me dinner six days later?"
Suggested replies from the Apple Watch were probably better when they didn't try to actually reply to what you received.
Shallowness was definitely a feeling I had about youth group even as a teenager, but I mostly escaped the real downsides that a lot of people my age experienced in these settings. Good read.
From this month's issue of Sojourners' magazine: If deep cries out to deep, why can the Christian youth group experience be so shallow? sojo.net/magazine/aug...

I've been parceling out s11 of Taskmaster slowly because every episode Mike Wozniak says or does something that is just a little too close to home.

After the "put on the captain's hat" task, Mike Wozniak attempts a 360° while his legs are taped together and, while slowly falling, says "scheisse" softly to himself (YouTube captioned this as "shut up"). This is another thing I actually say when something minor goes wrong.
The movie wasn't great, but this set does include Sigourney Weaver holding a copy cup so that's not half bad.
This quote from John Adams about delegates at the First Continental Congress members is almost exactly what I said to my 9th grade English teacher about my classmates when she suggested I contribute more in discussions.
I also liked that he skipped the 2024 Olympics when Slovenia did not choose his girlfriend Urška Žigart for the women's team even though she was the reigning National champ in both the road and time trial.
there’s always the worry with cycling that these guys will turn out to be using some fancy new undetected doping method but I gotta say Tadej won me over with the death stare he gave the dude who tried to pass on a stage he was trying to win for del Toro and how much he enjoyed playing a domestique
This is not happening. In some places, school staff are required to use preferred names & pronouns while also being prevented from outing kids to their parents. In some cases it's individual teachers choosing to do this. Some parents then blame the schools for "transing" their kids. 1/3
Education Secretary Linda McMahon and Maria Bartiromo push complete BS about public schools secretly making kids trans without the knowledge of their parents. McMahon says she's doing a number of investigations about it.
I was going to go to bed early, but then I saw this was streaming so now I'll be up for a couple hours.
And this reminded me of the time in 2019 I found out my dad was aware of deadspin when he texted me about a comment I'd posted.

The Social Network is my canonical example of the film being better than the book, but most of the good Philip K. Sick adaptations also work for this.
What are your favorite adaptations that transcend their source material? Blade Runner springs to mind

Now that was a cool end to the British
Took my 5 year-old nephew to a hot rod car show at an aerospace museum for his birthday. His 2 favorite things of the day? A model of a sea plane rescuing downed pilots from a raft and a dead bird in the street outside the museum.
@iaintreloar.bsky.social @caleyfretz.bsky.social @jonnylong.bsky.social Can one of you confirm if this was intentional or accidental? The wrap on the back of the car was also upside down.
