At the very least, NATO as a defense alliance is dead. But I don't think our delusional leaders will be able to face that reality. Who believes the US will come to Estonias aid if Russia takes Narvik? And Russia threathes nuclear war?

I think an underrated driver of historical events and trends is boredom with the status quo. An ideology may be excellent but people will get tired of the same old narrative after a while. Taking it further, a peace may be prosperous but people will want some conflict in the end to spice things up.
