"A government that conceals its identity cannot demand perfect recognition from frightened civilians," writes @jamilsmith.bsky.social. "ICE mistook Lorenzo Salgado Araujo for another man. He was expected to identify ICE instantly. Only one side was allowed to make an error."

Lorenzo Salgado Araujo is dead. How long will ICE be allowed to hide its face? | Jamil Smith

A government that demands instant obedience while concealing its identity cannot expect trust – or escape responsibility for the consequences

This morning in Biddeford, Maine, a 26-year-old man said goodbye to his wife and daughter and left for work. Moments later he was dead, shot in the head by ICE agents, the second man ICE has killed in six days. ICE is killing our neighbors. ICE cannot be reformed. Abolish ICE.

AOC: I said this a couple of weeks ago: I would not be surprised if, when ICE funding started up again, we would start to see more civilian deaths at the hands of ICE. And that’s exactly what has happened. We didn’t see things like this happening with the same degree when we froze ICE funding.

It's not radical to believe everybody in the richest country in the world should have healthcare. It's not radical to believe we shouldn't send our money abroad to bomb people when we need money for our schools here. It's not radical to believe corporations shouldn't be able to buy politicians.

Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was murdered by ICE. His three sons called him “El mundo entero” — the whole world. They watched as their whole world died in a video posted on Facebook. Lorenzo was our neighbor and fellow Texan. He deserves justice.

To date, immigration officials have shot and killed 11 people, including two Minnesotans. Across the country, they operate with no respect for human life, the law, or consequences. There's no reforming this agency. Rip it apart.

Secretive dark money groups have already spent more than $12 million trying to buy this Senate seat for my opponent. Minnesotans deserve transparency about the real funders behind these ads. Minnesotans are not naive, and Congresswoman Craig shouldn't treat them like they are.
