Check out Doug Brantner's talk "Open Source MRI" at the Open Healthware Conference on July 9th and 10th in San Francisco. OpenSourceImaging.org has developed the OSI² ONE MRI - a working, fully open source, low-cost MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) machine, including both hardware and software.

I'm not an agent of the CCP but I'm pretty sure the combination of the three technologies below would bring the Silicon Valley startup economy to its knees and shift the locus of AI innovation eastward. The national security apparatus is the only rational explanation for why it doesn't exist yet.

Serious question, on Google Maps, when you click on the "Menus" tab of a restaurant why is it always 12 photos of the cocktail menu / wine list and like one out of date picture of the actual food menu? FFS we have OCR and AI. Are alcoholics the only ones reviewing restaurants?

I just saw a robotics professor at a major EU university complaining in public about the mere existence of an LGBTQIA affinity group. These bigots continue to exist in society and pose obstacles to marginalized communities. Happy Pride month everyone. Please continue to be loud and proud.

I'm begging a young PhD in the social sciences to write about how we went from "makers" in the post 2007-2020 era to "builders" post Covid. The former was full of whimsy, curiosity, and frankness while the later is the pastiche of hacker culture in the service of capital.
