Lanterns is another show I ultimately find distasteful but not the reasons everyone else hating on it does, not exactly. It's an example of the increasing obsession Western media with Conflict. I prefer Superhero shows where the Heroes don't all hate each other.

i think that if you confuse those who are passively participating in a thing that's harming you, with those who are actively supporting it in order to harm you, it fully plays right into the latter group's strategy. this isn't even unique to this discourse, it's a pattern among many groups online.

So the pilot for FX Fighter Kurumi-chan is quite interesting. The opening scene plays comedically "look at the Pink Haired Anime Girl freaking out over Stocks or something". Then it plays a Fast OP the looks like an idol or Magical Girl show. Then it quickly turns serious.

I now must conclude I'm simply not in JoJo's target audience. If there was any Part of JoJo I could enjoy in-spite of the aspects of JoJo that I find off-putting it would be Steel Ball Run due to me interest in Anime Ne-Westerns form the 00s. But as of episode 3 I've lost any itnerest.

I just learned about "bidoof's law" and it's a dumb Internet Law concept because it's not predicting anything. Any attempt to predict that any holder of a certain kind of opinion probably openly talks about Hentai will fail. There's plenty of Anti-Hentai people all over the political spectrum.

last thing I'll say: I know people feel "betrayed" and ofc no one is obligated to continue to spend time and energy on something they hate. but as someone who rewatched every episode multiple times before the finale, I STRONGLY recommend rewatching the series now with the ending thesis in mind!

I'm confident that plenty of people who are sour on it will come around eventually. but that requires a willingness to spend time unpacking the narrative in its entirety, and unfortunately some will just think "ending bad" and move on without bothering to actually interrogate the show, or themselves
