In their first game since a gutting trade deadline, the Orioles have grabbed the first lead, 2-0, off the Angels. Rodriguez retired his first six batters in order but has struggled. Pete Alonso just batted in two runs with a single to center with bases loaded.
Cade Povich is playing with fire in this start but has done just enough to work around traffic to keep the Angels from scoring through the middle of the third. He's allowed 5 hits, but also struck out five.
Adley Rutschman said the last 24 hours have been full of emotions. He said he wanted to give Orioles fans many thank-yous. “It’s a lot of unbelievable memories and I made a lot of great friends for life. It’s some tough goodbyes, but we’re onto the next thing and excited to be here.”

Mike Elias maintains that the Orioles have very good players, a strong farm system, and "a lot of things going for us." Elias noted this season and last has been disappointing, but said: "The future is strong, and I think it starts right now."
Mike Elias said the Orioles "have a lot more talent in our organization as a result of these moves today." He mentions that the franchise typically has to look at the expiration of arbitration years and bring players to market before then.
