I think that’s basically true. There’s obviously been national franchising of pizza post WW2, but it seems to remain a thing of styles associated with cities in a way that’s not true of burgers. We have a really weird pizza style here in STL. I moved here 30 years ago and haven’t adapted to it.

Theory: Pizza types in the USA are city based because they mostly originate in immigrant communities preWW2. Burger types are franchise based because they originate in highway restaurants postWW2.

I don't really have an objection to the CEO saying Bluesky is open to all; it's kind of his job to do that. But as others have pointed out, the design of the site means it's harder for trolls/bots/chuds *and also* influencers/hypebeasts to get traction. The "bubble" here is actually normal humans.

The right wing whining about COVID lockdowns gets on my last nerve because these are the same people who refused to do *anything* to stop the spread, in the name of “liberty.” The way the right behaved when COVID broke out was disgusting and backward, directly responsible for making it even worse.

Honestly the OG Star Trek episode that has aged the most poorly may be season one’s “Mudd’s Women” due to a level of sexism that was already ridiculous even in 1966, but it’s stylish as hell and the titular women look incredible. Early first season TOS is gorgeous, especially for TV.
