Went to my partners parents to lunch today. 2 very elderly retired Farmers (86 & 87). His mum has an amazing kitchen garden with wild flowers. We saw 3 frogs, and loads of bees. His mum doesn’t keep well mentally & his dad has cancer. But their gardening skills are phenomenal. #Gardening
Went to Tesco today. At the exit were bags stacked high of BBQ briquettes & fire lighters. I didn’t see BBQ’s. But everything else was. I thought the Alarm yesterday said no BBQs & that disposable ones are banned. Why have BBQ equipment in such an obvious place? #Tesco #Wildfires #Fires

My partner has said the Environment agency is coming to inspect their Farm. He can’t recall it ever happening before. But it’s happening during this extreme weather, which creates extra work on an already full day. In an environment where the public demand cheaper food. And Farmers take the hit

Thoughts on rewilding. Up until the 1970’s Farmers left Portugal to go try their luck in Brazil. Portugal had a dictator. PT Farms were effectively re wilded, and are part of the cause of the wildfires along with the Eucalyptus. Animals have been introduced to keep the tinder down by the PT Govt..
Travelling back to UK today, I got off the train in a rural station in Cumbria as did many young kids( 14 ish?), all girls bar one boy. The boy very kindly offered to carry my suitcase over the railway bridge. It was such a kind gesture

My son works for a a space agency. He is so excited about the solar eclipse. He remembers watching the last one as a little boy, with his dad, & the birds going quiet. Sadly my husband died a few years later. I’m off to buy a colander

Who can afford to afford to buy home, start family/business? England must copy Scotland, abolish university tuition fees. Write-off tuition debt.
I'm old enough to remember when polio put my friends into iron lungs. We dutifully lined up at school to get vaccinated. We eradicated the disease. We protected the common good and saved lives. What RFK Jr. is doing to public health in America is a disgrace.
